That's a buddies old boat. It was on Lake Winnipesaukee last season and was not for sale. I wonder if it's another bogus listing.

freddan 03-13-2007 07:52 AM

Found this..

Shore Thing 03-13-2007 09:33 AM

on the boattrader ad, just click on the "show details" tab at the top of the page, it will take you to the rest of the add. The boat looks a little rough to me.

smokin deal if its legit even after factoring in rebuilds.........if needed

Bad Ass TA WS6 03-13-2007 10:02 PM

Looks pretty well used. I've seen the boat before, and know exactly where the marina is. My buddy lives a half mile down the road.

Wasn't for sale last I saw it, and I only saw the outside of it.

Doesn't look like a steal to me. 400 hours on the motors... doesn't say anything about the drives.

Overall doesn't look horrible.

delsol 03-14-2007 12:17 PM

ttt

Anyone else have any info on this boat? I talked to the broker and he mentioned that a head gasket was replaced on one motor last year.
Is anyone famaliar with John McDounugh ? He is a surveyor in the area -- was thinking of having him go out and do a good run through on this 28 to see if there is anything not right.

Any other words of wisdom that can be thrown my way would be appreciated!

Dave

Steve_H 03-14-2007 12:38 PM

i think of the 28 Apache as the little boat that could. it can take whatever you want to throw at it. if i was in the market i would have already made an offer pending survey.

delsol 03-14-2007 12:43 PM

Actually Steve I have made an offer pending survey, I was also wondering about a good surveyor ( I've been burnt in the past). I have talked to John and he seems good just trying to make sure.

Steve_H 03-14-2007 12:48 PM

hope it works out for you.

you will love the boat especially in rough water.

TexomaPowerboater 03-14-2007 08:06 PM

I thought somebody might like that deal.

Nykamp 03-15-2007 02:04 PM

Good luck, if you get her bring her to the APACHE weekend run in Sandusky Ohio June 22,23,24.

delsol 03-15-2007 02:51 PM

I would definitely like to bring it -- always wondered what it would be like to see the back of a bunch of 41's running hard:drink:

delsol 03-15-2007 06:30 PM

That's a great pic -- I'm guessing TGI Fridays? -- except for the damn eggbeater on the end:D lol

martins custom marin 03-15-2007 06:44 PM

looks like some corrison on drives . went with buddy last year to lake winn? to pick up a fountian, first thing we noticed was how bad drives, tabs were coroded anoedes were 1/2 gone. the boat was a 2000. we were told it was the lime in the water. just fig. you might want to ask so your not suprised .

delsol 03-15-2007 06:48 PM

Martins custom --- Yes I noticed -- looks like the skegs are the worst,- supposedly sat on a lift behind the owners house, maybe he didn't lift the drives out of the water... I'm going to wait to hear next week the good, bad and ugly (if any).

martins custom marin 03-15-2007 07:12 PM

the fountain also was on a lift and only had 120 hrs on it. corr. was on top caps of drives also. nothing your local painter cant take care of, just the thought that bothers most people. still a great deal if you ask me, all else being in good cond. I would be all about it so is my wife, if you decide not buy it. one more thing, you are going to love the roads to lake winn. they are something else.

delsol 03-15-2007 07:52 PM

thanks for the heads up. I did the run on Mapquest and realized that there is no great path to get there from here -- could be interesting! Always up for a road trip:D

martins custom marin 03-15-2007 08:31 PM

I would recommend taking 80-90 to boston and heading north from there. assuming your comming from lake erie area. may seem longer but about the same as shortage mileage on map quest time wise. unless you like mountian two lane roads and small towns for 5 hours.

delsol 03-15-2007 08:40 PM

great advise I will look into that --- always wanted to party in Boston.

delsol 03-16-2007 07:37 AM

And by the way Texoma, and everyone else who pointed this out ---Thanks.

wrasse 04-24-2007 07:05 PM

Did you buy it? Looks like a great boat!
How is it?

delsol 04-25-2007 06:38 AM

yes I bought it, it's at its new home on Lake Erie. Took it out for a quick run on Sunday, runs great and does everything that it's supposed to --- except 90 mph-- need to break in the port motor first:drink:

J-Bonz 04-25-2007 08:59 AM

Congrats, cant wait to see her out there

delsol 04-25-2007 04:08 PM

should be at the Casino for Derby day/ cinco da mayo :evilb:

wrasse 04-27-2007 12:18 AM

Whoa! Really? Give us the details! What motors/drives does it have, etc...

525SC'S with bravo 1 drives and Latham steering, and 280 k planes. In the future I'll be looking to upgrade the drives just to make sure.
It came with 26 pitch hydromotive 4 blades, but they are having a tendancy to blow out and cavitate. I'm going to tyry 4 blade bravos this w/e.

Run 3 blade mirage +'s. My old 28 came with bravo 4 blades, I switched to the mirages and it ran much better. Required less trim and flew very level. I spoke with both Bobby Saccenti and Eric Froberg. They both said the boat was built to run the mirage's.

delsol 04-28-2007 07:47 AM

CFD5--- That's great info, I wouldn't have thought to go back to 3 blades, as the 4 blades seem to work better with everything else. Now I've got to figure what pitch -- I guess I'll start with a 27 and go from there?

CFD5 is right. had mirage on mine also. 502 efi's. 25p

delsol 04-28-2007 10:07 AM

How much difference between the Mirage plus and plus racing? Are they cupped different or labbed already?

Steve_H 04-28-2007 10:19 AM

mine had old style mirage. not mirage plus. stock power ran 73 mph.

CFD5 04-30-2007 08:15 AM

I was told, the boat was made for the Mirage plus. Froberg said to have them labbed my Merc. I had 450hp 454's and ran labbed 25P mirage plus. Turned them to 5500. It would have been better with 27's but I sold the boat.
