We had the sea trial and engine certification this past weekend. Here are a few pictures from the weekend;

Lunch break, The Bridge Restaurant on Fort Myers Beach. I thought it was pretty cool that all the systems worked well enough on the first day out that we could take the boat to a restaurant for lunch.

It's pretty close. Some prop tweaking and a few cosmetics and it'll be done. The gear ratio is 1.5

Didn't it have 1.35's on there before ? Why did ya decide to go to the 1.5's and do you like it better ?

Trailer looks nice is that new too?

In the water.

Notice that the sunpad is not on the engine hatch. I anticipated that the hatch would be up and down all weekend with wrenching going on in the engine compartment. I made the decision to leave the hatch and rear seat head-rests off so that we could avoid the greasy hand print syndrome. Well, I was completely wrong. A single adjustment to the throttle position sensor and we were off and running. That's a real testament to the quality of the design / build work done by Teague on the motors, and the painfully detailed installation work done by McManus' team. My thanks to both organizations for a successful sea trial. I am very pleased with the results.

To answer some questions: Yes, it did have 1.35 drives before. We installed bigger power than before and empirical data from other Apache boats indicated that 1.5 ratio drives would be the correct choice.

The trailer has also been completely refurbished.

Thanks for your kind comments.

Glad to see her in the water. That was an incredible project to undertake and I hope you really enjoy the results. Now it seems like we should have a fun run for your coming out.:D

I'm not completely comfortable with the term "your coming out". Not that there's anything wrong with that.:D

I'm looking forward to running the gulf with all the FMO members. I doubt I'll be keeping up with Dennis or Bob but we'll have some fun!

Thanks for the comments.

was that off duty under the sanibel island bridge today?

Nykamp 12-11-2007 12:37 PM

I saw that baby in person awhile back, it was amazing. Mark did a great job, it was cool to see it again, I got to see it when it was brand new in St. Joe @ one of APACHE CARL'S Pier 33 poker runs.

keeponplanewayne 12-11-2007 07:03 PM

yes it was powerboat mag is in town doing their photo shoot.

MegaByte*3 12-11-2007 09:29 PM

Can't go anywhere without someone on OSO reporting on you. :)

Powerboat magazine is running performance trials this week at the Sanibel Harbor resort. They did not get to finish the trials in Sarasota. So, there were a bunch of boats around the bridge today.

LEOPAJM 12-12-2007 08:26 AM

Tom ... are they doing a write-up on your boat ?

Steve ... Maybe with Smoke gone ... It might be time for Carl to blow the dust off the Pier 33 Poker Runs ???? Hmmmmm ?

I was just speaking with MegaByte*3 about this boat yesterday. It went to Europe ( not exactly sure where ) about 2 or 3 years ago. He said they got over 700 hrs out of the Teague 900's and it now has 700's in it which is likely underpowered. I will mention the thread being resurrected again and he may have some comment.

Went to the first Powerboat P1 head. He put a big lightbar on it and made it the paceboat.
