Inxs F/S, $139k!

Seems awfully "cheap".

I also noticed the 41 that Shogren has took a $20K dip in price.

delleto 10-29-2007 10:37 AM

Damn - I still love that boat! Still one of my all-time favorite Apaches. Wish it was sitting behind my house.

42apache 10-29-2007 02:21 PM

what's it worth?

Chris Sunkin 10-29-2007 03:36 PM

Last I heard, the boat has Merc 1000's in it. If they're still there and in solid shape, the driveline is worth almost the asking price.

If gas were $1.50, I would be on my way to FL right now. I'd find some way to live with it ;)

Looks like two engines have CMI big tubes and the 3rd has Stellings..... Also look at the tailpipes out the back.... Anyone else catch that?

Wow, I need to get a bigger slip and a big pole barn.

delleto 10-29-2007 05:11 PM

I read online somewhere that INXS had 3 - 1100hp Chief's in it. Regardless, even if the 3 need freshening and drives need serviced - someone's going to have one helluva monster wave crusher in the neighborhood of 200k total. Just wish that someone was me!

JPD Motorsports 10-29-2007 06:09 PM

saw the exhaust but didn't want to question it!! Also remember jayl13 posting a couple of pics about it as well.

Papache 10-29-2007 07:44 PM

The boat has three 705 ci cobras . did run 110mph. nice boat. I looked at it two years ago needs headers and some minor work on her. I would give him $100,000 for it.

Chris Sunkin 10-29-2007 08:10 PM

It's official! "He" has spoken. It's worth 100K

In this market you might just get it for $100k. Boy I bet a guy could run some fuel through that baby in a weekend.

Thats what the price was a few years ago with no sea trial...................

baywatch 10-29-2007 09:44 PM

I still think the the 45' is the best deal right now, hands down.

JPD Motorsports 10-29-2007 10:41 PM

That white one with the purple headress 47 sat on the oso adds for how long with big power and 6's! granted it had a full cabin and it was around that money range as well.

LAKESIDE RESTORATIONS 10-30-2007 05:52 AM

Surely someone will buy it.. It looks good.. I do however wonder why soooo cheap for that set up even with the headers? I wonder if it has high hrs on the existing engines or needs glass work.. Even so, The boat just seems waaay under priced.. It would be a cool boat to be running..:)

I guess we will watch on & see where this boat goes.. :) :food-smiley-007:

i love this guys haters, people hammer him and think they are wise for doing so but the fact remains he has owned more race apaches then many i have seen on this board. maybe some of you need to stop by the ac area and see what we have to offer before bashing a fellow boater. papache, byrd, et al have owned very large machines you reets should be scared....:cool-smiley-026:

Chris please post some pics of your 41' I have never seen it and when was it last on the water? If you need to start another thread on your project, maybe I missed it.

Tough time to sell about...... It doesn't really matter what brand it is....

Some people can't afford to ride out the storm or simply want to cut their losses and move on....

My friend just gave one away to Charity because it wouldn't sell....he didn't need the money...just wanted to get rid of the boat....

vagrant 10-30-2007 12:06 PM

I have been looking at apache's for about 2yrs now. My 42 Sonic has been sold twice and the loans fell through. Man I wish I was able to buy and just sit on it. LOL:D

Chris Sunkin 10-30-2007 01:05 PM

Pre-teardown.
Been apart coming up on 2 years now. After another summer of not boating and bumming rides, I bought a nice 35 Mistress- this afternoon. Should be here next week.

My crappy scanner makes her look better that she really was.

Chris Sunkin 10-30-2007 02:38 PM

Picked up the units on the cheap, knowing I was converting to the 6 drive. They're early-80's. I got a season out of them, just barely.

A little research might reveal a small lack of tack on his part over the years. No one questions his boats, just him. NK

NJgr8ful 10-30-2007 05:26 PM

Side by sides pleasure set-up guess no race history. Prior names? Any pics after/during conversion with the #6s  Did you do the transom work for the conversion ... how did you figure out where X-Dim landed? What power you putting in her?

Which Mistress did you buy?

Yeah, pleasure boat. No idea of history- bought it from a bank in N Carolina. I'm halfway thru the conversion- redid the transom but it's not cut yet. I have the gimbles & plates- been hoping to stumble across a pair of dry 6's at a decent price. It's not like I don't have time. Like everything, one wire or bolt I don't like ends up being a total refit. I found all sorts of stranded-on-the-water issues waiting to happen as I disassembled it. Front tank holds pressure but I'm half afraid to not replace it. Seems like they all go sometime. Engines will be blown 572's. I'm hoping for 1k/hp.

35 is just an old Mistress. Decent, usable but nothing to be excited about. At least I can put an end to my freeloading. Just got off the phone with Cozzi- he's getting out to look at it. Hell, I'm just assuming it's a Mistress- I don't know if there's a difference betwenn one and a flat-deck. Are they interchangeable? Never had one. This one has a square race fairing and no teak. Is it the teak interior and the Vee windshield that makes one a Mistress. If it floats, I'm further ahead than where I've been.

LOL hear that - see below :D My Mistress has no windshield, no teak ... at all, never did. Is a 1985, race fairing and hatches, & #3 Speedmasters. The 'flatdecks' were the 35s and early(ier) 38s. Hey would you happen to still have #3 gimble rings from the pre-conversion version of your 41?

Good luck with that 41' and the new 35'. My advice would be to get'er done the 41' that is!!! The way you sound ... being meticulous and very detail oriented ... your 35' will end up being a 'project' too ;) :D

:drink:
((Call me if you stil have #3 gimble I need a couple. Redoing my entire transom  at least it was SOLID and DRY as a bone! L8R Chris))

Chris Sunkin 10-30-2007 07:53 PM

Sorry, traded the 3's on the 6 parts and some other pieces. I might have a lead though- I'll make a call tomorrow.

I have two problems- first, I got really busy with work 2 years ago. That coupled with getting one kid into college and travelling all over with #2 visiting schools has been a real spare-time sponge. The next one is I'm fanatical about how things are done. If I F it up, then I just re-do it. If I pay for someone else to F something up, then I'm all pissed off. That's why I just try to do everything myself. I've done total refits and sold the boats within weeks of completion. I couldn't stand the flaws. The Cig is not going to get away from me. It'll get some cosmetics and new graphics- probably something old-school. I'll probably hit the Cig forum and start asking for pics. They're all pretty much all variations on the latchkey anyway. I thought about the all-black sides- had a friend who owned one in the late 70's. Always loved the boat. I also saw a very dark blue sided one. Probably too much paintwork though- most likely some stripe variation, wrapping up over the back.

What I really wanted was an '86 SE 38 that I could paint like the original Cover Girl. That ended up being exactly what you described- another project run amok. The 35 just made more sense $$ wise.

I would have loved to find a 35 with staggered engines & 3's. I thought long and hard about that bare hull in the classifieds. My thinking has changed with the Apache and I suppose I'm waiting for it to swing back. When I started the project, I wanted a fast pleasure boat. Now I want a FAST 3-pack like MM's. It's been years since I've owned a raceboat and I miss it. I know that if I had one, I probably couldn't live with it so I'm hoping that urge cools down.

NJgr8ful 11-01-2007 08:28 AM

Paul has got a FAST 3-pack ... Old ChillOut Warrior boat, you would absolutely love it! :D Mint, original condition. Yeah that 3 man staggered 35 Ciggy is not in the classifieds any more. He tried (trying) to convince me to buy that and change everything over from my current set-up to that one. Mine is halfway between race and pleasure and I kinda like ... vs. buying something completely unrigged anyway.

Urges never cool down .. well when they do new ones replace them LOL

Now back on track ... Whose going to step up to INXS??? byrdman??

kvogt 11-01-2007 08:48 AM

Chris do you have any pictures of a 1986 cover girl. I am going to restore my flat deck and am looking for paint ideas.

Thanks Kris Vogt

Me TOO! I was thinking that for my "for now" boat but knew I'd get sucked in by it. if I could only find a nice kevlar SE...

http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e123/CTS1489/CG.jpg

The stripe is a very fine metallic silver. I had the magazine but misplaced it somewhere. I believe it's October '86 Boating.

#3 drives, I believe 510" motors. 70 mph. That boat was "it" 20 years ago.

My friend owns a mid 80's Kevlar TG SE (Flat Deck). It has SSM 3's on it and 598's.... They don't use it very much and it needs some work. I don't know if they would part with it but who knows.......

Chris Sunkin 11-02-2007 06:56 AM

If the mechanicals were solid, that would be the place to start.

This boat can be bought. I was talking to him about it this past Sunday. If any interest PM me.

Pretty sure the driveline is good.. I think speedmasters did the drives a few years ago, it has Huber 1500 trannies and the engines are 598 w/ Dart Big Chiefs.... I'm not sure of the condition of the engines but last time we ran together they were strong, after that I don't know, it's been two years.

Before the now owners had the boat I worked on it a bunch of times as it was owned by the owner of the marina where I was a mechanic. Send a PM to Sak, he grew up with the guys who own it now.

Frank
