Dash Ideas on a 36'

1 Attachment(s)
I am planning on updating my dash over the winter and was wondering if anyone has any pics of their dash if they have updated it over the years. I don't want to be a copy cat, but I am just looking for some ideas.

Mine is as stock as the day she was born in 1995. White guages W/White rims. Black throttles, White wheel, and Black toggle switches. Even the rim around my trim and tab guage is black. I am think of using blue as my accent color since that is the accent in the cabin.

I am thinking blue steering wheel, and blue bezels. Unless I go platinum on the bezels and wheel so that it still matches the black on the toggles (see I need some ideas) ?

Thanks

I like your platinum guages / wheel idea ... nice and clean !

Are you keeping the current guages???

If so, I'd just do chrome bezels. The are a lot of nice wheels with a platinum and black combination with polished spokes to match.

If you're gonna replace guages, then I'd get an overall plan for redoing the entire dash and do part at a time.

Originally, I was going to totally redo everything. However, all of the gaffrig guages that are on there now work fine and I kind of like that the Speedo has the Apache emblem on it. So I guess platinum Bezels is the way to go with a new wheel. Where is the best place to order that is actually going to ship the stuff before spring?

Is that Vincent @ Vincent custom Paint? Some time down the road I would like to get my Paint touched up and a fresh coat of Clear.

I am not sure if I am ready for that extreme of a Dash Overhaul at this point.

Thanks for the input guys.

When we redid our gauges on the Stinger we ordered and dealt with Livorsi, Ed Mannion. Never had a problem with them. We are updating some of our gauges and will order through them again. They will put the Apache emblem on the gauga, but I'm not sure what the upcharge is. :D

Baywatch,

I updated my dash a few years ago, it really made things look good.

Here's what I did;

1. New Dash Panel - powdercoated white with different guage layout because the previous owner got rid of the water speedo. I left the center open a little to make room for my GPS.

2. All new switch panels powder coated white and laser etched. The old panels were black.

3. Painted the bezel around the trim indicators to match the bezels on the guages. Installed a new white trim indicator card from Mercury.

4. Painted the throttle handles to match the bezels. The throttles were marine machine Stainless Steel with a white powder coated base.

I didn't go crazy with it...I just changed everything that what black to white and matched all the bezels to the boat.

Your dash configuration is similiar to mine but I don't have the speedo and I think I have a few more gauges than yours. My hour meters are behind the dash to make room for boost guages (blowers) and I also recently mounted two oil temp guages to the left of the steering wheel with 45* bezels so they can been seen while underway.

The wiring of the switch panels and the dash are done really well so it make the switchover easier, albeit very time consuming.

The first picture is after the panels, shifters and trim indicator was finished. The previous owner of my boat had "STARBOARD" for the dash (idiot)..... Second picture was the day after I put in the new dash...following day I put the extra screws in the dash to fill in those extra holes. ;)

Really cool what they did with that one!! I really like the engine compartment vents on that as well.

Thanks for all of the input.

Baywatch,

Here's a link to my project a few years ago; http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...ghlight=apache

I'll tell ya what.....I left out the bad parts....lets just say I don't work with that engine builder anymore and I wound up doing half the work myself.... Thank god I hooked up with JCPERF... :)

Thanks for posting the link. Mine is a 1995 as well. I certainly do not have the ponies that you have under the hatch though. It will be a couple years before I get to beef that area up.

Thanks for all of the input. I should have the boat back at my house by the weekend so I will start devising my plan of attack.

Panther,

Is your interior white or pearl? I have the Pearl and I'm wondering if white is going to look goofy next to it.

Cool thread:cool-smiley-011: So if I looked at dyno number correct you made 766.6hp? What drives are you running and what kind of speeds are you seeing?

Jackazz engine builder gave me bogus numbers back then....they made 716 hp... LOL

The new package by JCPERF made 838 HP. :ernaehrung004:
http://media.putfile.com/JC-Performance-Dyno

I haven't stayed on it any longer than 5 seconds so I don't know top speed numbers but my guess is that the boat is capable of 88 mph. It ran 84-86 mph with drives neutral and tabs down. It cruises just a tad under 60 mph @ 3600 rpms though.

I'm running BMax HT's for drives. The regular Bravo's can't handle it. I had IMCO Extreme SC;s and they broke regularly. The BMax's on the other hand have gone two seasons and 100 hrs on the OCEAN with no problems. They're down at Dean's this winter so he can go thru them and reseal and/or replace anything that is needed. With this much power you need to keep up on stuff so it doesn't become junk.

I don't really push the boat, maybe I'll do a speed run next spring to see what she runs.

That 84-86 was that with the 716hp motors or the newer 838's?

It ran 83 with the IMCO's and 716's, 81 w/ the 716's and Bmax' and so far 86 w/ the 838's but drives trimmed to 4 and tabs at 5. 88 should be easy.

 Keep us posted. I kick the idea around in my head to upgrade power in the future. I was wondering how she would run in 3-4's at lets say 85+ vs 65-70mph?

I'm running those speeds at 4000-4400 rpms. It's night and day!

don't bother doing anything unless you upgrade the drives, otherwise leave it stock.. I thought the IMCO Extreme SC's would hold it because they were rated to 800 hp/tq but I was sorely mistaken when I was blowing them up after 10-20 hrs with only 716hp.

Our boats are heavy and bravo's can't handle it, that's why I went with the BMax. I've had two trouble free seasons with about 100 hrs on these drives and other than one small issue with a shaft coupler they've been flawless on my boat. Although I lost a couple MPH with the switch I haven't had any down time due to blown up bravos! :ernaehrung004:
