You are right, but they are hard to sell. My deal just fell through today after weeks of work thanks to a surveyor that didn't know what she was looking at. This is the third time that I have had it sold and the deal fell through due to financing. This recent guy was only financing part of the money, but thanks to the surveyor he cannot get what he needs. Anyhow, I have a few other people that claimed to want it when we were in Key West, so I am going to e-mail them to see if they are ready to jump or if they are full of sh*t. Here we go again!

That sucks. I've never been so frustrated by a boat........until it comes time to buy or sell one.

Sorry to hear that HD. We ended up getting financing through a credit union because the federal banks wouldn't touch ours. It was very frustrating.

The helm and engine compartment look pretty crusty. The engines-700 HP? Probably not.

Sorry to hear that.

I don't know what your buyers' surveyor objected to but here is one problem area that I have encountered; There are only a few surveyors who understand the differences between fiberglass and Kevlar / Carbon Fiber. Kevlar will give a higher moisture meter reading than fiberglass and many surveyors will conclude that there has been water intrusion.

I have asked a surveyor to speak with McManus regarding the build process and normal readings before they reach conclusions and write their report. I have also flown a trusted surveyor to inspect a boat.

Best wishes with your sale ...

That sucks man. Hopefully one of the other potential buyers will come through.

I wish I was in the position to put it next to my x-mas tree.

I don't even think she did any moisture readings. I never saw her do it, but she may have. She was certainly not familiar with the high performance boats/market or components. I explained everything to her and answered all of her questions in hopes that she would go back and do her homework. Evidently not.

I hired a high performance surveyor myself to do a survey just this past week. He did moisture readings and everything was fine. He went through the boat top to bottom and did a thorough survey. What strikes me funny is that his market value came in nearly $100K above her market value and he was within a few thousand dollars of where it was surveyed and appraised a few years ago. Go figure. That lady killed our deal. I feel sorry for the buyer because he really got screwed.

By the way, it's back in the classifieds.

I knew you would do this to me. We pissed away a few valuable months working on this last deal. Now I am worried about the time frame. I absolutely do not want to be without a boat this summer!!

Your wife would kill me if I sold you another boat!! I've been trying to get Rob (Sacred Ground) to take it. He wants to go racing and has talked several times about getting the old INXS 47, doing some rehab work to it and racing that. I keep telling him that for $10K more than what they are asking for INXS, he could have my boat. It's already dialed in and ready to run!

Sacred Ground 01-01-2008 04:46 PM

I thought my offer was perfect-boat and real estate-works for me-

We are still working on some stuff. I found a surveyor on the SAMS web site that knows high performance stuff. He did a new survey and we may still be able to save the deal. We'll see what happens.
