What are the knees on the 28 Apache hull that you guys are always talking about being cracked? Are alot of them cracked?

Here ya go. The knees are on top of the stinger and they are supposed to provide some protection for the stringer??????? Not real sure, but thats what I was told. You can see them were the side stringers meet the bulkhead where the stringer starts to slope up. I have not heard of it happening to a lot of 28's. Mine kind of looks like a crack, but its just some of the bilge paint coming off from stepping on the stringers.

Here are the pics from Adam, they show what cracked knees look like. It doesn't look like too big of a deal if that is where the problem stops, a good glass guy would have that fixed in no time.
Other than it being so small to get in there, -- if I ever need to get my engines out or something doneon the bottom side of the engine compartment I'm going to have to put my buddy on a crash diet to get him from 6'1" 190 down to 160 lbs just to get him in the bildge:D

When I talked with Eric he mentioned at the factory thewy used to have a harness from the overhead crane and would lower the guys into the bilge at like 20 minutes at a time upside down! I can see how this would be a benefit, when I changed plugs last year I went straight to the chiropractor after.

i dont believe that is as easy a fix as you may think...
remember, just fixing (fiberglassing the cracked area) wont make the stringer as strong as it was before or even stronger, you must tie into the bulkhead and strap the repair to the stringer to under the motor... If you just glass it, it is like putting a bandaid on a bullet wound... I have repaired hulls and stringers, and 24 carosas that slid down the interstate...make the repair to last!

Toasty--- you are right it would have to be done properly -- but a good glass guy would have no problem doing the job in short order -- as long as it was accessible.

BTW these are not pictures of my 28' -- just some that Adam had sent to me of another 28' he had seen. I just posted them for others to know what the situation looked like.
