Broken Blower Belt

Here's one that sounds easy that is driving me nuts. I broke the blower belt on one of our 800's, and it was my last belt. The belt reads "Super Chiller 680K16".

I bought the 1700mm belt from TBS, which was the longest one they had, and it was too short. Any ideas???

FYI - Boat runs bad without a blower belt... go figure...

Oh ok. You got a sweet boat. I remember when he sold it a couple years ago. Sorry I am no help on the belt other than trying to go through the manufacturer of the blower.

If you havn't found anything by morning, I'll run the part numbers when I get to the shop. Most likely the number has superseded to a new one.

Spazboz - Thanks for the offer. I still have not had any luck.

That would be John LaRue out of Peoria IL. A Bobby built 41.

Yeah, that is the one. Has white drives and I have heard that it was the last 41' that bobby built at the fort. Very nice boat. I tried to run with him Sunday but I must have been to far in front of him leaving the no wake zone because I didn't see him again until I was going back up stream playing in the bumpy water.

Sorry for the hijack, now lets find kageman a belt..

Sorry to continue the hijack, but, what's the story on the Exciter boat that I saw in LOTO this weekend? I don't believe that I have seen that boat before.

It has been at the lake for years. I believe the owners name is John and have spoken to him before in St. Peters, Mo when he was working on an american offshore cat out infront of his home.

There is currently 2 41's (exciter, renegade), my 36', and steves old 28' that call the lake home. This past weekend blue moon 36' was visiting for the festivities.

I believe exciter was in Florida when he purchased it and he told me he went through the motors a couple of winters ago.

All I know is I was trying to leave at the same time as him on Saturday and by the time I got through the no wake he was long gone eating up the bumps.

Is it an 800's SC or just an 800 hp blower engine?

Is it a rib, 8MM or 1/2" pitch?

There's a company called Jason that makes blower belts. You may also be able to get it from Weiand. I got my last set of belts from Summit, they were Weiand belts.

800SC's The belt is a 16-rib belt, and measures on the long side of 68 inches.

Thanks for the help.

One Apache brother to another!:drink:

maui9 09-03-2010 12:43 PM

Too bad, I won't see the belt until next week. Lake Michigan forecast today is for waves up to 14 feet if you go out a ways. That would be wild!!! I tried 10's in a 35 Fountain... not so much fun.

WesSmith 09-07-2010 09:59 AM

How's my old boat treating ya !!

maui9 09-08-2010 11:42 AM

Hey Wes!! What's up? Did you get another boat yet??

Your old boat hates me. Trailer axles have bent, tires have blown, blower shafts have sheared, belts have broken (obviously), battery chargers have fried, carbs have clogged, water pumps have puked, guages died, fuses have blown, bought new exhaust-but the water Feds didn't approve, so I bought different ones, bilge pumps failed and through hull fittings have leaked (bad combo)... and I've only put 20 hours on the boat.

Having said that, Apaches rock, and I will never own another performance boat without an Indian head on the side...
