Man that was an awesome restoration. Looks like a new boat, the dash upgrade was very impressive.

Well, it looks like this project will be sitting for a little while. My 32' Seacraft that I had for sale was stolen and stripped Sunday morning. I was almost completely done rigging it (almost ready for insurance survey) and could not get it insured until then. There goes my savings......

TexomaPowerboater 05-02-2011 01:29 PM

I'm really sorry to hear that. I was looking forward to reading some more posts, but damn not something like that. Hopefully they will get whats coming to them, in the end they always do.

Maybe you could scratch the 850's. From my understanding the hull is really only good til about 85mph, you can hit that with something around 550-600hp. Twin 850's is a lot for a 28ft boat.......

UltimateOffshore 05-02-2011 05:19 PM

I'll see what happens. The 28 just has a hiccup at 85-87 then pushes on past 100. (with enough power!) Thats what I was trying for. Even discussed with Eric Froberg about a short stagger just for better balance. I will keep on with the glasswork for now as I get the time, but we'll see about rigging and hardware. This one def. hurts. Thanks....

Curious what Froberg thought about the short stagger. Hell, I'm curious about a full stagger. I guess you would have to pull the gas tank and go with bladder tanks? They do seem very responsive to weight changes. I noticed a significant difference when I went from aluminum heads back to cast iron. It porpoised a little with the aluminum heads, it went away when I went back to cast iron. Thats what 400lbs difference?

I love the floor in the cabin. The hole thing came out nice.

Thanks guys for the compliments. It took me 8 months to build that 38! As far as staggering the 28, I told Eric I wanted to do something different being that the boat is to be used as a show piece. He liked the idea of the short stagger with a shortened belly tank and some saddle tanks like the 36. Putting the saddle tanks in around the CG should help maintain the same attitude. But, with any extra weight being dispersed fairly evenly it "should" perform even better at higher speeds. Who Knows???

Cool project, glad you're bringing her back to life!
