cushioned flooring used in apaches
 

Does anybody have an idea what is used??? I was in a mcmanus and the floor was rubber but had a lot of cushion to it like those anti fatigue mats used in factories

I was in a six pack 41' that also had what seemed to be thick rubber flooring. It was black in color and seemed like it was pretty thick. It was softer than the rubber flooring that they have in the free weight area at the gym.

It is listed on Marks site as marine grade rubber flooring.

Could be that stuff. The one I was in had a greenish blue tint, but that could have been something glued over what your talking about

Its gym mat. Not the type for the weight room but the type they use in the aerobics area for sit ups. Hustler had it in all their boats last year at Miami.

I stole the idea, bought two 1/2 inch aerobics mats from Dicks Sporing goods and glued them to the bottom (side by side) of my snap in carpet and used automotive emblem glue. Flipped it over and trimmed around the edge with a razor blade. Good to go.

For what its worth, use the emblem glue or do trials with your mat. 3M spray on wouldnt work, spray on silicone wouldnt work but automotive emblem adhesive worked really well.

Makes all the difference int he world after a day on the boat.

If you just want to use the padding with no carpet, they sell 10x10 sheets online.

Is that what hustler told you it was? Now that you mention it, it does have that feel to it.

BTW Keith, good idea putting that mat on the back side of the carpet. I have a couple of carpets that need backing and that mat would certainly give it a nice feel. Is it an open or closed cell foam? I wouldn't want to use an open cell foam for obvious reasons...

It is the black 1/2 inch rolled up sit-up mat at any sporting goods store. I have gotten it wet several times - doesnt absorb water at all.

I just can't understand why nobody will make something decent looking like the pirelli flooring but thick and soft like the stuff your describing.

El Indio's 41 had it.
It felt like more than in inch of padding, under a layer of pirelli flooring.

Yeah stormrider you nailed it. Do you know if that was just pirelli glued to something??

Neoprene in whatever thickness you want, then glue carpet or pirelli etc over it. I made some pads to stand on this way, works great.

I'm pretty sure that's all it was, but it was the entire cockpit flooring, which isn't a large area in 3man setup.
But it was real soft.
You may want to check w/ the current owner, who is on these boards.

Look up Sea Dek. It is a soft material that has a adhesive backing and you can buy in sheets in different colors. You can also have them engrave a logo or whatever you might want. I'm thinking I will use this stuff when I pull my carpet up and cut my floor to replace my fuel tank. If I had only known about this stuff a few years ago I would have redone the whole floor in my Bertram with it instead of painting it and putting a non slip additive in it.

What type of Glue did you use?

Contact cement worked very good.

That SOFT STEP livestock mat sounds pretty nice.
Think ill order a roll and glue some carpet to it for my 3man im building.
