Apache Powerboats were designed to run in the rough stuff, and lets face it this guy Yves did just that with Razz. That does not seem popular anymore, maybe even avoided (AC 2010). Well, what are you gonna do?
Apache is still the best in rough seas, at least in my book.

I was talking about this on another website (Riverdavesplace) and of course the question comes up about new boats compared to old ones, new technology, etc. and which new boats would handle a beating like this.

The bottom line answer to that question is, "who knows". Because (as far as I have seen), there hasn't been a video put out of a newer boat (post 2000 lets say), where the owner went out during a hurricane swell (that's the back story on those swells) and intended to beat the boat like it owed money! Sure, there's footage of OL and Cig and others getting busy in some slop or some race footage of boats airing it out in some big water, but who really says anymore, "It's Saturday, there's a huge swell coming in, lets go out and go punish the boat!"? Answer? no one.

I do, albeit not in the ocean. I've got a couple of boats. I take the apache out when it gets too windy for the others. That was the whole purpose of buying it................so I don't get stuck on the shore when the wind kicks up.

Open Ocean Racing is a demanding, dangerous sport. Especially in those AC 2010 type conditions. Yes Dangerous! And that's what made Offshore Racing exciting & alluring. That's what attracted guys like Aronow & Kramer. If it was safe, they wouldn't do it. Sounds crazy, but it's true. The real Alpha males love the danger! That's where rough water comes into the equation, it's exciting as hell to watch Offshore Powerboats running in it. Again, I have got to give this guy Yves a ton of credit. He let's it rip!

I ran my cig hard and loved it. Sh!t, there's video of us flyin that thing 8' up multiple times. I've run it in true 10'+ seas and have the pics to prove it.

But I think you're missing my point...show me video of someone out running their (newer/non race boat) in water like that and punishing their boat that hard....you can't.

I got it. I agree with you also. To be honest if I had the loot for a new Cig I'd run the snot out of it in the biggest water I could find.
