Great Recent Video of Broken Arrow

http://www.***************.com/video.../#.T1DHa4cgfYI

Tommy rides along on a quick 10 minute run in 4~6 ft seas from Port Everglades and back in Ft. Lauderdale.

The old Apache shows how to get it done...truth ...fact...and real.

Notice the TOTAL absence of other boats out. I would be curious to see how the Cats would handle that water...I wonder??

Enjoy!!!

Yeah ...Tommy was stretched out on that right ankle when she came down hard...bad timing. He's a tough one...I remember taking him across Biscayne Bay to Elliott Key in my old F-18 Formula running 40 in a nasty a$$ thunderstorm when he was a kid...he never flinched.

It definitely looked like that would have hurt for a while.

An Apache Powerboat cutting through the rough stuff! Excellent!

mikebrls 03-02-2012 04:52 PM

in that type of they should no what they should have on

PFD :)

great video thow

Tonto 03-02-2012 06:46 PM

It gotta get alot rougher than that to put on PFD's in a 47! They weren't even flying the thing! When you go off a wave and count to 5, then think about it. What's REALLY FUN, is when you go off a wave and hang in the air long enough for the wind to change the direction the boat is traveling!!!!

Comanche3Six 03-02-2012 07:04 PM

The Chief power sounded smoooooooth!

TBAG 03-02-2012 07:39 PM

As long as you are in the bolsters you are fine. When you start moving around in the cockpit...you are no longer part of the boat and Newton's First Law of Motion will prevail it's self upon you!!!

Notice how comfortable the young girl is.

Ask Tommy ...Newton's law prevailed it's self upon his right ankle!!!:poopoo:

Tonto 03-02-2012 09:29 PM

What young girl? If you are referring to the kid in the video, that's Capt'n Blye, Tommy's SON!

DOH!! sorry...didn't know...If he is anything like Tommy was as a kid...he is BUSY. Tommy had 2 speeds...asleep and wide open!!

Tonto 03-03-2012 08:41 PM

Yeap, and knowing Blye, he would've rather been on the beach, surfing the big waves!!

Comanche3Six 03-03-2012 09:10 PM

Had to watch that video again, awesome Apache!

I know...me too. It tells the story in it's purest form...true OFFSHORE power boating...in the raw!!!

I have seen "Broken Arrow" in person once and can tell you that pictures don't do it justice. The rigging and arrangement that Tommy and his crew at Chief accomplished on that boat defies description. It is as perfect as a boat can be. Tom Sr. and I were talking about the history and he said that "Apaches are the '57 Chevy s of the Powerboat world...the basis of comparison"....couldn't have said it better.

It really takes me back to the days in the '80's when I used to have lunch a couple of days out of the week at Ft. Apache on NE 188th Street...and watch the who's who of Power Boating sit at the bar planing God only know what.

Those were great times. I'm reading "Mid Ocean" by Ralph Cimino...a great read. If you are an Apache fan you will love his reference to "Indian" powerboats though out the book.

Though I have YET to own one...I think that Apache marks the pinnacle of the conventional Deep V offshore powerboat.
