Because the CI capacity of the original engines from Kid Apache which my brother bought were oversize for the race class he is in, which is then multiplied by a 1.4 factor if fitted with any form of forced induction eg blower.

Eric,
The present engines are dry sumps specials as built for the Victory team in Dubai. I believe they are 540 Ci on Ram intakes,and built for very high RPM. Boat runs at 96 MPH well within it`s rev range.
