It is at Chief engines with the motors out to switch the SCS crash boves for trannys. They are going ahead and checking the engines while there out, plus his paint guy is going to fix some places on the deck where a palm tree branch fell on it while sitting in his driveway. I had just talked to him last week. The last advertised price was 399k not 299k but he is getting ready to advertise again soon.

Which 47' did John Arruda have up for auction? If I remember there was the start of a thread about stripping the boat down for turbines and the plug was pulled on the project...couldn't find it in a search
Anything come from the Apache in Michigan that had peices hacked out of it - part of an inventory listing for a company liquidating through auction? Dead and gone or is someone ressurecting it (huge undertaking if they were)? |

A few years ago I had my first slam of being "old" when a young lady was staying with us. She made a comment that her parents only listen to old music - you know from the 70's & 80's... remembering $1.73 a gallon (and even less) is another reminder - LOL

Here are a couple of recent pics of the 41. https://scontent-b-pao.xx.fbcdn.net/...11295548_n.jpg https://scontent-a-pao.xx.fbcdn.net/...64370209_n.jpg |
Here is a pic of the Brummett twin turbo engines. I don't remember the specs. Sorry.

Well, I know that there are faster 47's with higher horsepower and 6's. But, I have yet to see one better balanced in big water then your fathers. I believe that is what made it outstanding. As to how it will run when these guy's are through with it..........right now that remains unknown. They certainly look capable of fine work.
My dad's boat out ran the other 47's but the problem is the boat SANK! Why do you think we got rid of it? Many owners have purchase that boat and same story - leans to one side. |

I remember you discussing that it sank and the wood absorbed water. I would think that this gentleman is well aware of that and certainly capable of replacing the wood. He is set up, skilled, driven and obviously well financed. He loves his Apache Powerboats. I expect we shall see some more fantastic work from him. Just thinking out loud here.......Your father's Apache with all new wood and three of those Carson Brummett turbo engines coupled to dry sump 6's. That would be an awesome Race 47 Apache Powerboat. $ |
Anyone know which 47' was owned by Phil Hall of Powerquest? Saw it awhile back derigged. Looks like some work was being done on the bow to create either a custom deck Supposedly a '98 but who really knows.
|
47 that was at Powerquest was called Optavian or something like that it was dropped overseas and had a new hull put on in 1998. I looked at buying it years ago in Florida but passed when I was knee deep in water in the cuddy.

what ever happened to medcine man. is it for sale.

He also owns Lucky Strike. He had a nice tandem axle, dual wheel trailer (same as Straight Arrow) for it then hauled it out West. Lucky Strike has started the restoration process. |

Have any of the Apaches he owns been wet yet? I can't wait to see how they run when completed.
I hope to be there to take some pics when they get her wet. |

I was in their shop a couple weeks ago and Straight Arrow (41) should hopefully get wet early this Summer. I took some pics, but I can't post them on OSO without a membership.

Thanks for the link... I must have watched it for the past 2hrs over and over. I love to watch a big Apache kick a cat's butt.
Did I hear correct, is Lucky Strike going through a refit? |
