That's some strong ambition! But I do think of it each time I pick up a $5 hot and ready!

anyone have photos of what shape its in now? or where its located?

thisistank 03-05-2015 08:10 PM

Last I heard it's in south Florida. Had been changed from trips to stagger, all road rash from falling off trailer repaired and painted all white. No motors drives, hardware, interior etc. Blank canvass.

Last I heard she was in pompano area and had a tree growing in it, check with Jupiter sunsation, seems he knew where it was.

Yea, I heard it was a mess for a long time. But someone repaired it changed it to a stagger and it's all white. Saw pics of it a few years back looking nice in a warehouse.

Nykamp 03-07-2015 12:32 PM

Last pictures I saw it looked like it had been out of the warehouse a long time ago, probably ready for redo again.

You sure you don't want to just pass along the owners number? Might be worth his while. Maybe not. But lets face it....Everything is for sale.

If that boat didnt make you love these things nothing will. Can remember it sitting there with the purple drives and all

Give Saber Marine a call, (616) 837-6666. They can build you a new 47 with no age issues.

SkaterMike82 03-13-2015 11:21 AM

Saber is a great offshore boat no doubt!!!! BUT it's not the same. It is what it is. Apache of that era is what it is; but again Saber is great offshore boat.

Last owner that I'm aware of was James Horn. After flipping his 45' Fountain "Fountain Flyer" in Key West back in 1998 he lost interest in racing and boating. He was in the process of converting Little Ceasars into a pleasure boat. Bulkheads were cut out of the bow, a half cabin was built, boat was converted from tripples to twin staggared set up with # 6's, cockpit was gutted, etc. etc. The boat sat unfinished for years at Performance Marine in Florida with plant life growing in the bilge...I worked for Jim Horn when we had the Fountain dealership in Lighthouse Point, Florida but have not spoken to him in the past 3 years...I'm not sure if the boat had changed hands after that or not.....

It'll be another complete strip down and rebuild returning it to it's original look with triple power. Dave now has 5 apaches in his stable.

He got it. Just text me pics. Need to have a new trailer built for it then will get it back to Tahoe.

Plan is to build it the way it was (updated power of course). Really cool that the old girl is going to get the rebuild it deserves after sitting for so long.

Absolutely

Couple questions after looking at pics.
Did they separate the hull and deck to get the cabin liner in there? Had to right? (Looks a bit like a Powerplay liner)
Does it have a new deck, or was it always side entry cabin?

I'm guessing here, but I think it's the original deck that had been cut to allow the side entry. I'm fairly certain Dave will yank the "cabin" out and out it back to no entry/ race set up with bolsters along with reconfiguring stringers for trips and filling/ cutting transom along with new tanks/bladders/replace stringers/etc. He's beyond meticulous in his rebuilds.
