47 Apache conversion
https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...d291ff361.jpeg Anyone have any more info or pictures of this boat? I saw it on Facebook page. |
UMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM..........:eekdrop:
|
WT.......... |
That was Octavian. guy purchase from neil in Michigan and did the conversion to a spear fishing boat . he's done it to a scarab also
|
Wasn't Octavian all white? Heard it was dropped in Europe and got really damaged that resulted in a new hull in 98 from Mark.
|
IMHO...owners preference but its sacrilegious to do it to an Apache when a fountain would have sufficed
|
Stop beating around the bush.......
That thing is dead set hideous. Someone's taken an awesome offshore boat and made it one of the ugliest pieces of fiberglass imaginable. From the owners point of view, it's probably the most amazing fishing machine on the water and the envy of all his fisho mates. I do get the bit about heritage but different strokes for different folks. ;) RR . |
There's a build thread about this boat on the hull truth.

"Viewer discretion advised" or "Content may offend". That said, I think he's done some high quality work and his mates on tht all love it! RR . |

Few things I've gleaned from the Hull Truth thread -
1) This guy F*CKED up a cool 47 Apache and a cool 38 KV Scarab! 2) He poured some serious time and energy into this project.....Just think if the same energy was put into restoring this 47! :( 3) I wanted to punch my computer as the Hull Truth continuously locked up on scroll with ads! WTF? I read on there that Octavian was used as a tender for a mega yacht. Anyone know which one and/or have pics of it ? |
Adblock Plus is your friend. On almost all forums now a days i may ad.
|
yuck
|
Here's some pics of it in better days and even then it was neglected. Looks like it sold for 105k in 2005 at auction. That person I'm guessing was NOT happy with that purchase.
USauctions.com - Item Description: #6039: 1998 47ft Apache Warpath |
What a waste.. Ugh |
3rd of these deals apparently. Didn’t care when it was an unwanted 44 tempest. 38kv, meh. But hacking up a 47 Apache for a pilot house is just retarded. |
this is sad,as if there wasn't any fishing boats out there for him to use,he ruined a classic powerboat,at first i thought it was photoshopped then i threw up a little.
|
Whats retarded is a 47 Apache hull sitting around collecting dust. These are great hulls but are a "classic" from a bygone time. Everyone wants cats or center consoles. Straight nonstepped hulls are nice for their seaworthiness but old school. After having a ride in a Nor-tech Superfish 452 with 5 merc 400r's its like why do i need big v8's anymore. I mean I love them ... but
I will get flamed but FUGGIT thats where I am... |
Who has a 47 collecting dust that they want to sell.
|
I appreciate all the comments. I'm just glad it isn't an actual Apache. You guys would really be mad then.
This hull was for sale for a long period of time, you guys could of all ponied up a couple bucks a piece and purchased it and done whatever you would have liked to it. |

Don't take it personal man. I presume having it back in the water in this condition is better than having it rot away to nothing. It's just Pilot boats aren't exactly this sites cup of tea and to see a KV and especially an Apache turned into one is a bit sacrilege for most around here. The mind wonders off to think of the potential the effort could have been used to restore. Not taking away from your workmanship. You did a sh!t ton of work. What's it look like in the water and hows it run?
I need a boat that can cruise at 50 knots in 5 foot seas and get home without too much of an issue. There are other comanche boats that people can rebuild into whatever they want to. I would be glad to do it again if I can make a deal with the guy in Wisconsin by the end of the week. I can't figure out how to post a video but if I could I'd be glad to. We should hit low 70's after some adjustments tomorrow. |

I get it, that's why I didnt post anything on here about it. Believe me, I'd love to put three 600 series big block aluminum Chevy motors on it with huge blowers, but we don't cruise the lakes out here with silicone filled women like I'd like to.

You know what, as much as I would have preferred a hull like the 47 Apache restored to glory - if they have their weights and balances in line, as long as you can get those "Rude's to push/keep that boat on plane - you ARE coming home when the seas kick up!

JSTBECAUZ -- congrats on the boat! I think it looks great and obviously fits what you do on the water. Very impressive numbers out of triple 300's, and the weight is hard to believe for that hull.
That hull was up for auction -- no bids, then it was for sale -- couldn't give it away. Everyone commented on how the deck being cut out of it was sacrilegious... the hull has been re purposed and being enjoyed-- and lives another day. I think it was a far better ending than going through a grinder...! |
Thanks for posting. What a great boat for diving.
