Go with a 20k lift so it's not struggling

jeff32 12-31-2020 11:23 AM

My sonic 45 weight in at 19 something K on trailer so 16 k boat weight is my guesstimate

The chief 41 was right around 13,800 full pleasure, I would go much heavier because fuel adds up... 18-20,000 lb to be sure it's good

Probably easiest to just ask Ron what size lift he was using. I can text him and ask if you would like??

If you reach out to Mark McManus at Apache with the boats HIN, He can look up the all the original paperwork. I believe that includes the weight.

thanks for the replies

i asked Mark at Apache and stated didn't weight pleasure versions just race

Yes think Ron's lift was 16K

Surveyor tying to say it weighs 11K dry which is wrong

You could always drag the trailer to a weigh station at a truck stop and then go back with the boat on it. A friend used to own Scalp hunter which was a pleasure version with a race cockpit conversion and a Kevlar layup. I seem to remember that it weighed around 11k.

Old school 41 Apache weights

Back in the day, Jenny's Express weighed 14,600 when built, Geronimo weighed 14,800 when built. They both had 6 man stand up bolsters and if you can call it that, the little storage cabin, there had no cruiser type amenities. Hope this helps.

Jenny's Express was that weight full of fuel? Cant see it 4000 lbs more than star chaser.

Most of the early Apache's were layed up pretty heavy. Keep in mind, my old '94 Top Gun weighed 9,600 pounds with Bravo drives and even more when we upped the drives to 3A's. So this morning I called the Obi Wan Kenobe of Apache's, my longtime friend, Tres Martin. Tres agreed that some of the light layup 41's were around 10,000 pounds, but most were 13,000 pounds dry and with around 220 gallons of fuel that put Jenny's right at the advertised 14,600 pounds. So you are correct on fuel, but the dry weight difference is 3,000 pounds. Tres mentioned that in the lightweight boats, the top decks actually gave a little bit when you walked on them..

Yes on the deck mine and predator where missing bulkheads on the top side. Most of the race 41s had 340 gallons of fuel crazy amount of weight.
