Pretty obvious the two have common ties.

I have a 38 Flat Deck . They are similar hulls the 41 is obviously 3 feet longer and about 4000 pounds heavier in pleasure trim. That is why I believe they handle big water better than most . Which hull is yours at first glance I thought is was a Flat Deck , but maybe a 39 ?. RG.

Is that a 35 mistress with a Top gun dash? Pretty cool! I assume the Apache is Kageman?

Rick G 05-10-2021 02:53 PM

The short deck threw me off along with dash. Hard to compare a mistress to an Apache . Two completely different boats . RG.

It appears based on his prior threads.

offshoredrillin 05-10-2021 04:20 PM

they were both Dons hulls, Don sold the hull mold to Bobby for the first 41

Griff 05-11-2021 01:40 AM

It was named Kageman before it was named Bushwacker

Apache vs Cig

Yes this is Kageman now Diablo just finished it.

Sure didn't know Don sold mold to Apache. you are right though totally different feel to boat.

yes when i bought cig had custom top gun style dash put in and new cig interior last couple years.

Affirmative, that's all laid out in the linked thread, with pics as Kageman and Kageman chiming in.
Actually Bushwacker, then Kageman, Bushwacker, Diablo as per the linked thread.
Well the Diablo is its own thread.

normally thats because of the weight, apaches were laid up heavy.

Eddienel 05-11-2021 11:06 AM

Let me throw this in the mix. Formula boats are known to be slower because they are heavier boats. Are the hull designs and weight comparable to an Apache vs a Cig? I’ll try and pull the article up from boat test shortly.

offshoredrillin 05-11-2021 11:14 AM

formula isnt in the same catagory. Cigs and apache back in the day were laid up for racing. some of the later apaches are 13k plus, some of the 47s are upper teens in weight.

When the 35 Cigarette was built, they were in a hurry and the plug ended up with two of the strakes not meeting perfectly at the bow.

For a number of years following that, we entertained ourselves by noticing at Boat shows, just how many "New" boat designs happened to have that same exact flaw.

I remeber seeing that written somewhere as well, I think don even made a comment about it.

Cig Hull

I read your post and went in looked this weekend think you are correct lower strakes are sharp and even upper one looks like it was ground out to not accent the misalignment

Mistress was a great boat when I had it. Your dash looks great. I just didn't like the Freeboard being so low, because I am 6' 6" tall. I even look taller driving.....lol

Your picture above and you saying "I even look taller driving" coinciding with me just watching the movie Gator with Burt Reynolds a day ago.
I can't help but chuckle and think of this in the movie. :drink:
