War Dancer

https://seaboundyachts.com/tag/apache/ was listed for $265,000 in May '20....recently currently $244,000 .......spoke with broker, Ins. big factor in sale, probably reflects the price drop.
Who know this 41' well enough to offer opinion on boat and price?......Friend interested, I'm interested, we'll see Buffalo trip.

There is some you tube video on this boat. The last owner is in a couple of the video. Very sad story , the guy , or his family owned a marina, and he was running a crane or travel lift at the marina , and hit power lines a couple years ago, and died. So his family is selling the boat.
You can see in the video that he was "Living the Life" owning this Apache.
As far as the listing, some of the pictures are from years ago, and some are more recent. I think I would paint over the art work on the bow forward of the name. Just calm it down a bit .
Looks like a awesome rig , and I would bet there is room for negotiating. It is a little more than I can handle, size storage , engine maintenance , yada yada.

I’m not an Apache expert by any means, but I don’t think this is a real 41 Apache. Isn’t it a Comanche?

Saw the video taking the girl out for a whirl....was that the unfortunate owner who died?.....that's really sad! .......I have my 35' in a 100' garage no problem there, but Insurance is the kicker here....definitely a negotiated factor in the sale.

I've noticed War Dancer doesn't appear on any Apache list......can you distinguish a Camanche from a Apache build?

F-2 Speedy 12-30-2023 12:57 PM

War Dancer comes up as a 42 on the Apache website

There are a couple move short video idling at the dock, and some running footage . So it sounds like Mike bogner worked on the boat for several years before buying . The marina is in Buffalo N.Y. . He is the last owner.

bajaman 01-01-2024 05:59 AM

I'll bet that chick was wet after that ride...
Mr. Bognar was obviously a passionate, expert boat handler. Sad to hear that he died, especially in the fashion he did.

So, what am I missing on this price? Seems ridiculously low.

Twin O/B Sonic 01-01-2024 06:34 AM

Gorgeous!

What a piece of history!

Spoke with the broker and what seems to be a very low price, it can even be negotiated lower. ...Ins. is a factor , but all the $$$ that went into War Dancer?
Nancy Blauers paint job alone was big $$$.......want to go see it in the early new year if it doesn't get bought.

F-2 Speedy 01-01-2024 01:27 PM

Man that forward engine is stuffed in there, short bilge for a full stagger, keep us posted scippy

bajaman 01-01-2024 02:21 PM

What are those engines and drives worth alone?

F-2 Speedy 01-01-2024 02:38 PM

150-175k

Nykamp 01-01-2024 03:35 PM

653 ci Super tall decks from Richie Zul were $75,000 each back when she was built, they are amazing motors. I had the same power in Allez Vite, they would push you back in your bolster like a line backer.

Nykamp 01-02-2024 06:07 PM

If your worried about insurance cost you should be looking a completely different boats. Insurance is peanuts compared to running this kind of High end powered go fast.

That's what the broker claims is a negative on the sale of War Dancer......not mine. I've had my issues with Ins. companies' on older go fast boats...... and unless you have a check for $244,000 no bank will
finance the purchase........Also, unless it's factory Mercruiser warrantee engine, what Ins. co. will insure 2 Richie Zull 1000 hp engines~ without robbing you!

Nykamp 01-03-2024 01:20 AM

Worldwide here in Michigan insured my 41 while i owned it, not sure who would cover one now days. Total dollar insured my big powered 36 Apaches.

Team Archer 01-03-2024 12:19 PM

In all the pictures the drives on the boat are not dry sumps, they are old style wet sumps. they ae claiming that it has dry sump drives big price difference. Just my two cents.

Dan I see that and it's listed with dry sumps...a factor in negotiating price......The 2 brothers tn Buffalo who formerly owned ."War Dancer" & "Smokin' Joe" would have all the riggin answers I don't think it's been updated since then.

Cary 29 01-03-2024 09:16 PM

Skippy..i was talking too fast probably when we spoke. Ultimate Warrior is the other Apahe. Tony Ferrantino owner. Mike his brother owned War Dancer. Smokin Joe was a 43 Scarab triple.

bigmotor 01-05-2024 01:26 AM

So are wet sumps just as reliable, but have more parasitic drag ?? Any major functional differences ???

scippy 01-05-2024 12:18 PM

Hey Cary...Nice to speak with you the other day, thanks for taking the time while knowingly having a lot on your hands & giving me some insight to War Dancer ...all the best to you and Family! ...regards, Margaret & Peter

Nykamp 01-05-2024 02:38 PM

I'd take wets any day, drys are nice but it a number of my customers with drys needed rebuilds way quicker then the ones with wets. Wicked one loss 4 mph when he switched to transmissions from crash boxes so the wet drives are definitely slower. My buddy with War Hawk put over 400 hours on his wets before they needed work. Allez Vite is now running over 100 again as she now has dry drives.

Hey, My wife and I looked at Wicked Won this summer in Grand haven, It is a bad machine. I could not talk her into it. Too much full race cockpit. We need something a little more pleasure set up, like a back bench and regular bolsters. It does have a toilet which is a requirement !!!! His asking price was deffinitely reasonable for the equipment.

Do you have a email I can you send the dudes number. I would rather not post his number for the entire worlsd wide web. I believe he wanted to be around $260k He uses as poker run only. 6 man stand up cockpit, does have a half cabin with a porta pot. And all race bulk heads forward of the 10 foot of cabin area

I was just browsing a few of the ads for war dancer it says redone 2012 I would gather it needs a refresh after 20 plus years. Also does anyone have an idea of about how fast this boat would actually be?

Craney 02-16-2024 03:44 AM

Didn’t Bill Roar last sell a couple years ago for like $65k? It seemed in pretty good shape then, so don’t see how it brings double that but who knows 🤷‍♂️

Edit: just checked and my “sold a few years ago” was actually 10 years ago lol. Getting old sucks!!

It is pretty, but not sure on a all black boat.
