I saw a post on Instagram of a 39? Contender that had a Seakeeper that looks like it split the cap. Comments said it was going 60+ with Seakeeper on and made a left turn and Seakeeper went right.

The image was removed shortly after. Anyone got any info on what happened?

Lots of stresses involved with these things, I wouldnt be suprised.

Stepped hull slide out at WOT. Boat had quad 400's Based on where the damage is I don't think it was the seakeeper, the major split in the cap would have been forward of the leaning post.

That being said I'm a Tuesday morning quarterback. I do handle boat physical damage for a living so I'm not totally stupid but I also haven't seen the boat and I'm making the assumption that the seakeeper was in the leaning post and not under the deck. I'm sure Contender will blame Sea Keeper, Sea Keeper will blame the captain, the captain will say it's both their fault and doing 80 in a hard turn had nothing to do with it.

I am still looking for the photo, it has been removed from about 4 accounts on IG I saw. I sent them to my buddy, now they just say "deleted"

It's still out there but I'm not trying to be the guy that shares someones worst day. I believe there were some trips to the hospital as well.

It is possible that the boat slid out at high speed. Also possible that the seakeeper contributed to the slide out causing the boat to react weird to a sudden turn. A wave probably came and smacked the side of the boat at 50+ mph when it was sliding out. Probably driver error. Quad 400s on a 39 foot center console should be treated with respect. I've never felt the need to make a turn at 60 mph

It certainly looks like something exploded under the rub rail and blew the cap off. I hope everyone made it out okay, boats can be fixed. Whatever the case that's a lot of horsies strapped to the back of a 39, a lot of respect should be given to that amount of horsepower from whoever is controlling the throttles.

Yup. Thats exactly what it looks like. I've always wondered about using sea keepers on high speed boats. Boat is maneuvering at a high speed when when gyro wants it keep it on a straight line course. The forces exerted on the casing and mounts of the sea keeper must be astronomical.

Both mahi and wahoo can hit 50+ MPH, what's wrong with some high speed trolling while the seakeeper's on

It would be cool if the seakeeper automatically turns off at a certain speed, say 10knots
