I purchased this drive from a Mercury mechanic who had rebuilt it before I purchased it from him and it has not been used since the rebuild. The drive has no corrosion on it. It appears to have only been used in freshwater. The paint is in very good condition and the propeller shafts are very shiny.
The Blackhawk is rated to 550 HP, and it can handle even bigger horsepower if it is built with Mercury XZ gears. Most parts from the Mercury Bravo 3 outdrive will interchange except for the vertical shaft and the bearing. The Blackhawk drive has twin counter-rotating propellers just like the Bravo 3 drives. The drive has forward, neutral and reverse. This drive will bolt right in place on a stock bravo transom gimbal mounting. The Blackhawk drive works best on a boat hull that has some rocker built-in where the boat has a natural bow lift or on boats with tunnel hulls. When placed on the right hull, the Blackhawk will usually add around 10-15 MPH to the top speed and 25% to the fuel economy. There is no torque steer with a Blackhawk because of the counter-rotating propellers.
I do have a Bravo transom gimbal mounting assembly available for sale as well, at extra cost, if you need one to use with this Blackhawk drive to mount it to your boat. I do not have any propellers that go with this drive. This Blackhawk outdrive has the 1.5 gear ratio.
The drive measures about 28" long, 18" high, & 12" thick and weighs about 130 pounds.
