2001 awesome 260fx

Im looking at the following boat on boat trader : http://www.boattrader.com/listing/20...31490/?zmc=stf

Its a 2001 260 f/x
It currently has a 502 with a side mounted whipple charger, spinning a 28p 4 blade, bravo 1 (dont know max rpm)

Questions are:
1.What should be the top speed of the boat?
2. How will this boat handle the chop in the Barnegat Bay (new Jersey)
3. What should i look at if i decide to purchase?
(Ive been comparing eliminator 25's 26's and also American Offshore cats)
4. Does anyone recognize the boat. Im being told its a Bank repo. The price seems very reasonable

Id appreciate any information you guys can give me. thanks!

This boat was forsale last year for asking 22,000.00 it was baught by heartland marine at LOTO. I looked at before it was baught by heartland and after. A very minor repair was made to hatch and a 10k plus price hike. it has bags of sand in the front and moldy smell in cabin. the back seat is only deep enough to get your but cheek on meaning no leg on seat cushion due to the blower belt. The wood around the back seat didnt seem to good and the work done to move the back of the seat forward to clear the blower belt was kinda half ass at best. I had a hard time walking between the front seats and the back seat due to narrow space. The boat has unknown hrs though they say only 46 hrs. i think the ecm has 46hrs but the boat has more for sure. After looking at it twice a decided to not even waste the money for a survey wich i was told by heartland that nobody gets and the boat is good cuz they check em before they buy them. It has a b1 with a blown 502 so the drive was also a big concern. The previous owner lived at LOTO. It was not a bank repo. I dont know if it was the boat mentioned above in another post that i also comented in when i was looking. just my 2 cents.

That is too bad! The 26' Awesome is a great boat! I bought mine brand new in 2004 with no power no out drive. I rigged it myself with a 950 H.P. 565 C.I. tall deck Merlin with M-3 Intercoled Procharger! B-Max Outdrive Runs Over 100 M.P.H. I've rode in 26' American offshores, warlocks and eliminators and they don't hold a candle to the ride you get from the full tunnel 26' Awesome. If I ever decide to sell I'll let you know!:drink:

Not that great of a deal, plus i talked to them runs in the 80's... i dont think its set-up very well, also that back seat is unusable so you have a 26ft 2 seater. The 26f/x is a great boat and really fun but if its not set up right forget it, took me all year to dial mine in but im seeing 98gps with 700hp.
Good Luck

Hello,

I am looking at a 2001 260 that is for sale in Connecticut and during the sea trial all the boat did was bounce like crazy and then the electric fuel pump stopped working and ended the short ride.
The owner is fixing the electric fuel pump issue and we will then try again.

Can you let me know if these boats are know to porpoise? We only got to about 60 and played with the trim a little before the boat stopped running.

If you could call or e-mail me I would really appreciate it. My Cell # is 860-280-8095 or you can e-mail at [email protected]

Thank you!
Bruce
