Looking for a 26' Awesome Cat

In the market for a 1999 prefer 2000 or newer 26' Awesome Cat, prefer stock power like Mercury 496 MAG HO or prefer 502 MAG MPI. Will be salt water used so galvanized or aluminum trailer preferred. Ive seen a few decent deals, even missed a great deal on one, putting feelers out to see what else is out there.

Thanks

I appreciate the reference, but a 1994 kills it. From 1991 until they changed hands in 1999 they had transom issues...
that particular boat, I think your buying the motor..

I’ve ridden on a 260. I’m not sure how happy you’ll be with stock power. This boat really starts shining at speeds above 85mph. Transom issues are an easy fix with the right shop. I’m not sure where you’re located but Captain Nabber’s in IL can right any transom issues that boat may have. May be worth looking at the boat and getting a transom repair quote less the asking price. Seems like a lot of boat for the money.

You are absolutely spot on about the hull and speeds above 85mph. I figured the best way to buy it was with stock power, if it had at least a 502 you have something decent to build from. I don't mind dealing with a transom, however what I have found in the past is that when its time to sell there is no NADA value for a 1991-1998 so it maybe difficult for a bank to assess a value for a new buyer. I can pay cash for one, but thats never been the case when I went to sell a previous boat I've owned.

I have also thought about the 26' American Offshore and 26' Daytona. They are both great boats however they lack free board and I'm not sure how well those hulls would like salt water esp on days with some light rollers in the bay. The 260 is the tallest free board of the 3 boats and I just like the design and style.

What kind of transome issues did these boats have? Did they soak water? Or just not strong?
