With my 2004 33 outlaw, 496 ho's with 26p and no boxes ran
79.4 mph on stalker radar at dealership radar run.

Dave,

Do you having any work done to your 33'? I have an 2003 33' Outlaw with 496HO's 26P and the best I saw was 75.1 MPH GPS.

Not to make anyone angry but, to run 79.4 with 26p props and 1.5 drive ratio would need the engines to be turning 5400rpm. 5100rpm will get you 75mph. 5000rpm will get you 73.5mph and 4900rpm will get you 72mph.

Nothing done to the boat, YET , but this was done running down current on the Mississippi. Figure possibly 1.5 - 2 mph current adding to the speed, also rev limit alarm was going off the entire time. I ran the first run at 77.9 then 79.4 the next after lowering the right motor 3/4 more than the left to pull the rpms below 5300. Boat had 1/16 tank of fuel and has ran unreal fast from the day I purchased it. Not trying to anger anyone as well, but just stating facts. I was running side by side with a 30' outlaw late last summer and actually pulled away from him slightly. Maybe a poor driver, but that is what happened.
The radar run was done in front of possibly 100 boats at an event held by my dealer.

For what it's worth,
I ran there too that day,.... their radar was reading
2 mph faster than what my GPS was reading.

The math on that comes out to 18% slip. Most perfromance V bottoms are between 11-9% slip.

The one that RJBBC is talking about is a 2003 33 law with 500s, 8" boxes running 30 pitch 4 blades turning out. Owner says it runs over 80 but two years ago when he said he was running 80 I pulled out my GPS and showed him 77.4, he was not happy. the day they ran it was about 45 degress out 3 guys and a full tank of fuel and I was told they were running over 80 :rolleyes: I think it is a true 77-78 mph boat still very respectfull though. What do you think?

Using math is very easy to calculate boat speed. Most performance V Bottoms have 9-11% slip and cats have 6-8% slip. A 30p prop moves 30" through the water with every revolution. Using engine RPM and drive ratio is the rest that is needed to calculate it out. The big variable is how much the props have been tweaked from their advertised inch/pitch and the accuracy of the tach. Here is a quick way to figure it out.
