On Baja's which is better--in or out ??
I have gone from a single to a twin engine 36 Outlaw. What are you guys with twins doing with your props??
Do they work best spinning in or out?? When I bought it they have them spinning out. |
Re: On Baja's which is better--in or out ??
I am spinning mine out. Bravo 1's 26pitch labbed.
|
Re: On Baja's which is better--in or out ??
mine is a 99 to they are spinning out but i am going to try them in and see what happens my old 32 caliber i was
spinning them in !!!!!!!!!! |
Re: On Baja's which is better--in or out ??
Mine are out.
The only one I've driven that works well with "in" is a 32 Outlaw/ caliber Even on that one, docking maneuvarabilty sucks. I've never heard anyone praise the docking maneuverability of inside rotation. |
Re: On Baja's which is better--in or out ??
I had no problem with the 32 with inward props.maybe it was the props i used hydromotives. I know
powerquest spins the props in to. |

powerquest spins the props in to. worked well...... it has bravo's. Concerning the docking maneuvering, Whichever drive was in reverse, there was little effect, unless some throttle was given. I have my theorys on this, and it's due to the water coming off the blades at an upward angle, and hitting the inside vee portion of the hull, cancelling out some of the available thrust. |

SPEED COMES IN!!!!!!!!! POWER QUEST!! |

I've seen, at the most, a 1 mph difference.....not worth it. |
Re: On Baja's which is better--in or out ??
Well so far I am reading that every set up is different. I also agree with jt29's idea about the thrust direction and its relationship to the hull and its affect on docking ability. The 36 Outlaw is a big boat and I can also sacrifice a few mph for better control. I hope after my engines go in that the 2 mph loss means I am only going to go 86 mph  :D :D :drink:

Re: On Baja's which is better--in or out ??
1998 36' Outlaw T/800 SC with SSM drives turning in. No noticeable differences around the docks. The props turning in helps raise the bow which helps counter the additional weight of the SSM drives and transmissions.

Jeffaker
How fast does your rig go ?? I am building 750 hp motors and I was just curious. Dave |
Re: On Baja's which is better--in or out ??
The boat will run in the low 90 MPH range.
|
Re: On Baja's which is better--in or out ??
That's cool-- I will be happy with something in the mid 80's :D :D
|
Re: On Baja's which is better--in or out ??
I had hydros spinning in on my 32, and it hanled like **** at the docks and at speed , I swapped in and lost less than 1 mph and handling was 110% better, I guess its just prefrence and varies from boat to boat and driver to driver, but I hated it in

Supposed to take delivery on next Sat

Re: On Baja's which is better--in or out ??
Well the weather here still is to cold to take mine out yet so don't feel bad about not having a boat to use. I have one and still can't use it. I started the engines the other day and discovered one of the sea pump water impellers was bad so I'm replacing both of them. If it ever gets warm enough around here to use it at leasst it will be good to go by then !

Re: On Baja's which is better--in or out ??
Well Went Out Today And Turned The Props In (27 Hydro's) The Boat Planed Better And Rode Better
I Could Get The Nose Up Better To. |
Re: On Baja's which is better--in or out ??
Just an update. I had my 320 out this weekend with the props turning in. It was HORRIBLE. I will be turning them out form now on. It was hard to get it to settle in to a nice level run. Porpoised alot, could not use hardly any trim. It wasn't any faster either since I couldn't air it out like I can with them turning out. I actually had to use my tabs on very smooth water just to keep it from bouncing.

Re: On Baja's which is better--in or out ??
so whats the consensus on a 29 outlaw, in or out?

The poor handling far outweighed the less than 1 mph gain from running them "in" |
Re: On Baja's which is better--in or out ??
Out for all around good use,,,,,,,, in may get a mph or two more,,,, but poor handling.

Re: On Baja's which is better--in or out ??
I know this wouldn't change the handling around the dock, but has anyone thought about the toe-in toe-out differences when changing prop rotation and the way it effects cruising, top speed performance?

I Can't Believe That My 32 Rode So Good With The Props Spinning In !!!
|
Re: On Baja's which is better--in or out ??
I tried props "in" on my 32 caliber this weekend.....bad idea, rode bad, docked bad. Oh and for more speed......a big no!
