Baja Bandit, degree of dead rise at trasnom???
Baja reports the boat came in 15 degree dead rise at transom or 20 degree dead rise at transom.
Difference seems to be in Bajas reported top end numbers 15 degree = 77 MPH 20 degree = 66 mph this is a 92 boat with a 502 Mag 23 pitch prop. What does this mean and how can I tell what my boat is??? |
Re: Baja Bandit, degree of dead rise at trasnom???
My guess would be if the 15* on the 92. I have the 91 version which is 15*
From my "best guess", Baja made the Bandit in 91-93. In 91 it was know as the 223 Bandit which is what I have. In 92-93 it was simply know as the Bandit In 94 it became the Bandit II which they made up to 96. It is in those years that I believe they changed the bottom to 20* The deadrise is the angle of the bottom, or how deep your V is. The best comparison I can give is look at the bottom of a Bandit and an Outlaw 25 at the back. The 15* bottom will look flat compared to the steep angles of the 24* of the Outlaw. The higer the deadrise, the better the rougher water ride, but it also sacrifices speed. the lower deadrise will be faster in smooth water power for power. Of course I could be wrong.........have been before. |

Mcourson, what power is in your Bandit and how fast does it run. Also what prop are you running?
Mine is a 92 with a factory 502. IT does say 223 on the swim platform. |
Re: Baja Bandit, degree of dead rise at trasnom???
I've got all the old brochures at home,
from back to 91'. The 91's were the only ones that had the 15* deadrise. 77 mph ?? , As I recall, my overly optimistic faria speedo would read 78, which in all reality was more like 71-72 with the stock 502 mag. Apples to apples, power wise, there's not going to be an 11 mph difference between the 15* and 20* hulls......maybe a couple at the most. My 91 had a 23 pitch mirage also. |
Re: Baja Bandit, degree of dead rise at trasnom???
I've got the 454 Mag with 21P or 23P Mirage Plus I believe. Have to look to be sure. I also have 1.36 gears.
I run in the upper 60's. I have never gps'd it. |
Re: Baja Bandit, degree of dead rise at trasnom???
Thanks Jaytee. I wasn't sure on the deadrise and was just guessing by the model names.

Re: Baja Bandit, degree of dead rise at trasnom???
Bandits were made through 96. In 97, Baja introduced the Hammer, and dropped the Bandit II.
