Re: Winter Upgrades
Repair the hatch.......After the Shootout incident
Throw a upper gear set in the r/h drive, so it doesn't explode ( like it's neighbor did) next year. I'd like to find a set of 2" shorties, since I've ran it with 5 blades, it hooks up, guessing there's more speed if you get them up. |
Re: Winter Upgrades
im going to get the prop done. is that a bad idea to do over the winter? am also going to work alot on the cabin. t.v., air you know some nice things for the weekend. i only have a 25 but im going to make the best of it. i have one more year of a warrenty so the new cmi headers will be next year. you guys got any ideas i should do.

by...asked what happened ??..... and said " Yeah, I've ran with the hatch cracked open". I have the video.....it happened very fast, didn't even stop when it hit the end of the slide tube....pulled the guts out of the actuator, and over she went........And I didn't know it was gone 'til I was off the course, taking the helmet off  |
Re: Winter Upgrades
so it happen while running with the hatch cracked just a bit for more air? Bad news

Do you have any pics of the damage?

Re: Winter Upgrades
I have some neon lights to install that I have had almost a year now.
Plan to add some billet trim pumps for the drives and move them forward, and put the batteries in the engine compartment with some nice billet battery boxes, and just work on cleaning up the rigging in the engine compartment. The wife wants me to take the boat up to Kustom Colors for some nices additions, but not sure if I'll get around to that or not. Just very happy that the engines and drives are doing VERY well. Of course they only have 35 hours on them so they should be doing good. |
Re: Winter Upgrades
Dock
what kind of speeds are you seeing out of your new motors? |
Re: Winter Upgrades
ya'll should use LED lights instead of neon.they are much brighter, and they don't draw any watts at all.i have about 15 -3 light clusters in my 38 and they rock...they are even water proof..

But the Neon's are the ones that wire into the stereo and dance with the music. They are computer controlled with 1000 colors and are simply awesome to watch! |

Re: Winter Upgrades
Well, I just finished my second rebuild of the season...that's enough for now. When I get motivated I'll start thinking of redoing my hatch too. It kind of bends to the starboard side since the actuator is on the port side. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix it?
|
Re: Winter Upgrades
Short of going to the side mount hatch actuators, there is not much you can do to eliminate the Baja lean on the hatch. I had a 226es that did the same thing. I found mine was full of water and weighed over 150 lbs! Needless to say I tore it apart and had an all fiberglass one made.
|
Re: Winter Upgrades
Jason,
I have a 226 as well. Can you pm me with some details on how you made the hatch, etc. My hatch probably weighs about that much too! A very poor design to say the least. I thought about getting one of those actuators that mounts in the center but I'm not sure how it would attach to my 454. Two actuators would be a pain in the ass. |
Re: Winter Upgrades
mines light weight balsa with prostock scoop about 25lbs and you could jump on it :D
|
Re: Winter Upgrades
Yea, no big deal to make. Took the bottom of the orig. hatch, piece of 1/2 plywood cut to fit the hole, layer of sweatshirt material over the foam baja sunburst logo, little resin and fiber mat, poof it was done.
You could do the same without the logo and just cover it with vinyl. |
Re: Winter Upgrades
just found rot in the cabin area to night on the bulkhead were the bed is and the floor and the port stringer in cabin  MAYBE I should just strip it  save the parts it would make one hell of a bonfire on newyears
