Yep, I can believe that. My friend, Andyīs 272 just leaves me standing on acceleration (identical 496īs) and has even a tenth of a mile on me on top speed, too. And his boatīs got a lovely thick coat of antifouling (from the previous owner) on its bottom! The acceleration of his boat leads me to believe that the 272 is a good 2-300 pounds lighter than the Outlaw. The Outlaw does show better manners in the rough stuff. However next season he will have a set of (Victory) tabs on his boat too. To complete the picture I should mention that he has a 23 Accelerator prop that seems to bring out the best in a 272 (Iīve tried it on the OL and it wasnīt that good - loosing grip in mid range due to the higher x dim.) I run a merc labbed 25 Bravo. We both see 67 at 4900!

I was "stirring" the pot a little :D ,I spin a 32 pitch labbed at 5800 at 92.7 mph and my boat looks completely stock when its in the water. Just about every time I'm out boating someone in a stock new 25 outlaw w/496comes up to me and wants to runthinking that my older 272 at most would have a slower 502 mpi in it. Imagine their surprise when I let them go WFO,match speeds with them and lean on it a little,Smitty

Wow, thatīs impressive. A real stealth Baja! There must be quite a number of low hour 25OLīs in your area coming up for sale pretty soon   with very dissillusioned owners :evilb:
I canīt imagine what 93 in a 27 foot boat feels like. Donīt tell me - the chine walking and the porpoising all stops at 85 !!! :D :D

Most (95%) of the chinewalking stopped when I put the twin ram full hydraulic to the helm steering on the boat. If I try to cruise at 65-70 the boat has a slow front to rear porpoise once you are no longer accellererating if the trim tabs are neutral/retracted. The most evil thing it does is if you are running real light(no gas or passengers) and I'm running the 32 pitch and then you whack the throttle to wfo between 45-60 mph it torque steers bad until hull airs out for about 3 seconds but simple running at least 50 gals of gas and putting a passenger in back seat or full cooler and you'd never know it did it,Smitty
I made replacement trim tabs to go in place of the bennets that are 50% longer, they help also.
