Re: Is the 30 worth the money???
There is a new 30 O/L at Kentuckiana Yacht Sales that's local to me. They've had it for over a year because they are such *******s! They've got the same 2 boats this year for the boat show that they had last year. That's it, except for Islanders and Jet-Ski's.
I'd say that seeing boats sit for a while depends on the dealer and not the market for it. If the dealer doesn't deal or make an attempt to sell it, it's not going anywhere. The dealer I bought my 05 O/L from had sold 51 boats in 3 months. And that's just one salesman. |

I'd say that seeing boats sit for a while depends on the dealer and not the market for it Of course, this is all just my opinion. It is an opinion based on purchasing two boats from this dealer (Shadrack watersports). It is also based on customers that I have sent to them, and the experience of working the boat shows for them. I have seen first hand what they have priced this boat for, only to see the customer look at a Cobalt, Sea Ray, or Four Winns (the big three in this area) and go buy one of those because they want the amenities a boat like that comes with. People are influenced by what is cool. If performance boats are THE boat for your area, that is what you will look at. If a cruiser (minivan on water) is what is cool in your area that is what you look at. :D |
Re: Is the 30 worth the money???
The dealer is Alton Blakley Watersports in Somerset, KY. I drove 5 hours to get there, when I could have gone to a dealer that was 30 miles away.
He didn't say what he sold 51 of, but they only sell Baja, Eliminator, and (I think) Maxum. When I drove to the dealership, I passed about 6 or 7 car dealerships owned by the same company. The boat dealer has 3 of every Outlaw. 3 20's, 3 23's, 3 25's, and so on. They had 2 40's on the lot ready to go. Baja is a huge name in my area. They're also really hot at Lake Cumberland, which is 2 blocks from the dealer. My salesman's attitude was better than anything I've experienced from a salesman. He didn't kiss my ass too much, he didn't blow me off, and he didn't pump me full of ****. That was March of 05. I saw him again in September at the Poker Run that they sponsor. I (and other Baja owners) were invited to a hospitality houseboat that they'd rented for the weekend. They gave everyone t-shirts and some other stuff. Hanging out on the dock, this guy was the same person that I knew from the lot. They had a new 405 they were demoing that he showed me and my wife around on. He offered us a ride on it the next day, knowing that I couldn't buy it, or have any intentions to buy. Sorry to hijack the thread. Back on topic :D Good luck in your search for a boat. |
Re: Is the 30 worth the money???
My experience with AB has been top-notch. Last July 4th on Saturday I had an ignition switch went bad, and one of their mechanics skipped his lunch hour to put one in for me, and then offered to come back Sunday while they were closed if I still had problems.
Hell, most dealers would tell you that you're SOL. You can walk into their place, and you feel like they really want to earn your business right from the git-go. |

Re: Is the 30 worth the money???
AB water sports is where I bought my 2002 25 OL and you are right...nothing but good things to say about Dan and Brodie and the rest of the crew there. I drove 6 hours to get there from where I live. I test drove a 30 that they had last summer, but was having a hard time justifying the price. It was an 04 with out HO's.The guys were great! I hope this is the year. I am worried about some of these 04's out there because you pay close to new price but then they are 2 years old as soon as you sign the papers...value falls through the floor

Haulinvols: Sent you a PM.
I agree 100% with blewbyyou. A new 04 not only takes the hit that a new boat takes, but it also deprediates 2 years as soon as you drive off the lot. If you buy one today and try to sell it in a couple of months or so, you'll have a 04 with low hours. The banks and buyers will lump this boat with all other 04's out there. Looking around, with HO's they are bringing 90K or so. The new 04's in inventory are now so old that they are competing with the preowned market. They are only different in the fact that they are very clean two year old boats with warranty. Both variables (very clean and warranty) bring a premium, but not a premium equal to new boat pricing. I think it is risky and would be scared to do it. Even if it was a cash deal. |
Re: Is the 30 worth the money???
Just work them down.......it never hurts to ask them if they will take whatever amount. Voice your concern to them and show them that you can buy a clean low hour used 04 for XXXX of dollars and that you can buy a new 06 with same options for XXXX of dollars and that the price they are quoting for you does not make sense.
Its all just dollars and sense.................boats are all a waste of money its just a matter of how much you are willing to waste. :D I have 3 so I waste a ton of it................But I have a damn good time. |

My thoughts EXACTLY. EVERY boat has a value. Someone is going to take a hit whether it is the buyer or the dealer that sits on it for two years. If it is a NEW boat, NO hours and a FULL warranty and I could by it for the right price, then I would be all over it. The key word is "Right Price". Don't be afraid to make an offer based on what the boat will really be worth. |
