Testing the 36 tomorrow
The boat is ready at Full Throttle Marine. Just did head work, cam, bumped up the compression, bumped the rev limiters, did the valve springs/valve job, added adjustable timing chains and head gaskets, my couplers were shot so they were replaced. Doing the sea trial tomorrow, hoping to pick up a few mph. I dreamed last night I got to the ramp and forgot my props, there loaded in the truck now :D Ill report back tommorrow when i get some gps results. :evilb:

Re: Testing the 36 tomorrow
The sites been down everytime i tried to get on.
We need to work on the carb tuning. It accelerated VERY nice, but only saw 1mph increase. It hits a wall at 5450. The plugs were fouling out due to it being too rich and it smelt like a gas tank idling. Also, my props need a little cup as the front of the boat was dragging (due to the a/c we think) and julie at throttle up thinks i can pull the slip down 2%. Were wondering if the carbs are too small to go to 5600. It had a ton of power, and stopped at the 5450 mark. Ill keep you updated on it all. Im also thinking of pulling the a/c pickup thats on the bottom. that thing is huge. So not there yet, but getting closer. The 731 cams sounded very nice along with the bump in compression. |

Re: Testing the 36 tomorrow
What size carbs? The stock Holleys? I had to go to a 1050 Dominator to get my 502 to spin 6000.

Re: Testing the 36 tomorrow
I'll keep you posted on how my boat turns out.
We pulled the A/C fitting off the bottom, took the hook out and trued the last four feet of the hull. That fitting is a BIG problem. I know for a fact it was causing a lose of speed and creating bad water on the port drive and prop. We should have it back in the water soon. |

Re: Testing the 36 tomorrow
Oh dock, will you post some pics of how yours looks now?
|
Re: Testing the 36 tomorrow
I'm very interested to hear how Dock's boat rides now that the hook has been removed. I have heard on Baja's that taking it out causes it to porpoise alot more.
Dock please let us know !!!! |
Re: Testing the 36 tomorrow
Do you have carb spacers on them ?
|
Re: Testing the 36 tomorrow
no, but thinking about adding them. what do you think about the carb size?

Spacers increase plenum volume, that can help compensate when carb size is a limiting factor. And, they're relatively cheap, and relatively easy to install. |

Re: Testing the 36 tomorrow
BajaRunner, Sorry to cut you short today on the phone. When I tried to call you back I didn't have your number. To answer your question, the only person I know of for glass work around here would be Rick George out at Emerald Point Marina. I have not met him personally or had any work done for me by him, but I have been told that he is suppose to be good. The only other people that I have heard do a good job is Custom Boats of Austin, but then again I have not personally had anything done by them. Sorry I can't give you a definate answer but I hope this helps. :drink:
