-Pull the outdrive -Disconnect the exhaust and wiring -2 bolts at mid engine mounts and 2 on the back of the motor? disconnect P/S lines Throttle cable Shift bracket Fuel line Inspect the exhaust bellows and shutters in the Y pipe, ...they probably got fried. |

Re: What happened to this motor?
Did the audio alarm go off ?
It should when engine is OVERHEATING, oil pressure is low, or drive oil reservior is low. |
Re: What happened to this motor?
I don't think that it was ever ran dry.
Is there a way to wire up some sort of safety to make the engine shut down at a certain temp? Sort of like a low oil pressure shutoff but with the temp?

? ice bag, or some kind of other floating debris. Gets caught on a lower, disrupts water flow to the inlets, frys the impeller, overheats the engine. It's happened to me before. |
Re: What happened to this motor?
My water pickups are mounted to the transom. I can see how this can happen though. I would think that even if it overheated that it wouldn't take out a bearing with it. That is why I thought that it was the oil pump.
