Props for 33 Outlaw

Has anyone changed from the 26p to 28p? (With HO's)

If so what’s the results?

Thanks

Re: Props for 33 Outlaw

I'm getting about 4600 rpms at WOT and 74 to 75 mph. At 3500 rpm I am getting about 55 mph. I think they are a little tall considering WOT rpm but a lab job should fix you right up.

03 33 Outlaw with HO's. Ran a set of 28 Bravo I's labbed by Mercury Racing for this boat. 4800 - 4900. Planning to tweak them this winter.

Re: Props for 33 Outlaw

That's about the RPM’s I was guessing I’d be at.
What speeds are you seeing at those RPM’s?

And thanks for the reply.

Re: Props for 33 Outlaw

Wow, you guys get awsome speeds. I hope it is in salt water. I am in fresh and on my best day I achieved 74.6. Usually around 72 GPS and I have HO's with 28 Bravo 1's labbed by throttle up. Maybe I need driving lessons.

Craigbaja, let us know how the new props work out for you.

Bill

Will do but I won’t have a chance to make it back to LOTO till the first of Oct.

then with 4 people 72.6 @ 4900rpm

I had big blowout out of the hole but outher than that I like them..... A LOT :evilb:

Re: Props for 33 Outlaw

Thanks Craig,

Those are great numbers. I considered trying the Hydro P-5X to overcome the blowout and maybe even give me a little better mid-range, but didn't want to spend that much on trial and error.

Before scheduling my driving lessons  ......I was thinking I should check my setup.

Who labbed your props and are you spinning them in or out?

Thanks, Bill

craigbaja 10-16-2006 09:35 AM

Re: Props for 33 Outlaw

I didn't have them labbed, they're stock and I'm spinning them out

I thought about going in but I didn't want the trouble around the docks

Also, I know in 03 Baja raised the X-dimension on all 33’s, this may explain any differences in our numbers

I was just thinking, Ive never been on a 33 that went over 75, unless it had work done or blue motors or more, yours sounds more realistic

x was raised in 02

I'm seeing 74.6 on GPS with Mags in a 302 running 28p labbed by Mercury Racing. Hope to see 80 after a few mods this winter.

Im not saying yours is unreasonable, but the ones who claim 78+ have to be going by the happymeter not gps

Actually any with the 496HO's have the raised x. The reason I say this is because mine is an 01 and I double checked, both with Baja and by measuring, and I do have the raised x.

I am sure all hulls are a little different. I would love to have mine blueprinted, but I am not sure of any reputable places in my area. Does anyone know of any good hull blueprinters around LOTO? That wound't be too far to go. Surely there is someone around there that do good work.

One more thing, that I have heard makes a difference of a mph or 2 is the Speedmaster XR drives. Don't know if it has to do with the low water only pickup, or design, or what.

I am not trying to make excuses, just adding what some of my understandings are. Do you guys have any thoughts? Craig what drives do you have and do you know if there has been anything done to your hull? Maybe we can prove or disprove some of these myths. I would guess that factory hull differences can make 3-4 mph differences in identical boats, IMO.

Re: Props for 33 Outlaw

I’d ask the question in the general discussion form for a good blueprint place at LOTO

I just have the stock Bravo drives and I haven’t had anything done to the hull.
The only thing I “may” add to my boat would be CMI exhaust but that 7K + install is a hard one to justify IMO.

I totally agree with you on the differences from the factory
