HELP.....Docking Lights on my 29 OL

I need to remove the docking lights on my 29OL so my painter can paint my boat; does anyone have any tips on how to take these out? It seems like they have a nut on the back of the bolt? If so how can I get to the nut?

Remove all the screws around the flange and carefully pry them out breaking the silicone seal and cut the wires when you get them out far enough.

I wish I had not spent the money for this option. These lights are worthless.

Just a guess but I would think from the cabin somehow. Maybe try pulling out the front wall and seeing what you can get to.

Nevermind, I see someone else had an informed answer.

I HAVE NEVER TAKEN ANY OF THEM OUT, BUT HAVE ASKED THE QUESTION BEFORE. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY COME OUT JUST LIKE THE HORNS DO ON THE TOP OF THE DECK, WHICH IS VERY EASY.

I HAVE HAD THE HORNS OFF BEFORE AND DID NOT SEE ANY NUTS. IT APPREARS THAT THE SCREWS GO INTO THE FIBERGLASS LIKE WOOD / SHEET METAL SCREWS.

SORRY ABOUT ALL CAPS, WAS NOT YELLING.

Nate,

Which 29 did you buy? Local boat?

I guess you can say it was local.....Still had Illinois tags on it. I found it in a yard in Baton Rouge. I got it from the bank (Bank Repo) I only saw the boat on the water one time that was for the Tickfaw 200, 2003. That was its last run. The boat sat up in the weather since, I'm replacing EVERYTHING Power, interior, Pint, Trailer paint, rims, gauges, Stereo ECT... I am real close to being finish I have been working on it for two mounts. It should make it first outing on Halloween @ Prop stop…..That is my goal.

And thanks Dock. I will give another shot tonight......

Sounds like it's gonna come out nice, post some pics when you get it finished.

I think you know a friend of mine Jody Falcon?

Any of you Louisiana guys know Jimmy Dutch?

We met him at Travis this April, then he turned up at the Destin Florida run last month. A real interesting guy that is fun to talk with.

You should have access to them (if there are nuts) from the anchor locker. After you take out all the screws, use a thin putty knife and carefully slide it between the lights & the gel-coat to break the seal of the silicone. DO NOT TRY TO SLIDE IT LENGTH WAYS! Make only inward strokes moving the blade over each time. After you have gone completly around the light and the seal is broken, you will have to slide the light forward and out at the same time. The hole is cut at an angle and will not come straight out. Hope this helps! If you have any questions I will be glad to try to answer them.
