18,000 Miles & Counting

I know that all of us track the hours on our hull and motors, but I have been keeping up with miles driven also since we bought our 36 Outlaw.

This last weekend while at the coast on a four day boating trip we ran 246 total miles on the water and that put me over the 18,000 mile mark.

May not sound like a lot, but that is the equivalent of cross country 6 times!

She still looks great, performs great and we are going to keep on keeping on!

Do you get much freezing weather in the Carolinas, or is it 365 days of boating down there? Tonights low is 45 degrees! Time to break out the Carhartts, gloves and helmet for next week! :D

Good boating from April through October.

Hit & miss November and December.

Forget January & February.

I don't have to winterize, have good protection for the 15 to 20 days a year it gets in the teens. So we are ready to head South at a moments notice when work allows. Five hours and I can boat with a light jacket.

I like to start the engines every couple of weeks in the winter.

Right now it is 59 degrees at 9PM, and is suppose to be in the upper 40's tonight.

Hig's in the low 70's by Sunday.

18000 miles? Wow, I have never kept a car for that long.

I think I might only have about 3500 miles on mine and it is only a year newer.

Here's a couple from Jan of 2004. Do you know the guy in the picture, you met him and gave him shirts!? These are from Lake Cumberland since Lake Erie was frozen solid. Take a look at the price of gas then!

394 as of last Tuesday.

I have a good friend that just topped 500 Hours on his 02 38 Scarab, and another friend over 500 hours on his 01 38 Donzi. Both have 500 EFI's.

Actually, that is alot of miles when you consider that (to the motor) it is all (up hill). 12,000 gal X $2.50 = $30,000 not including the tow rig  :drink:

Just went over 46,000 miles on the trailer towing and I lost my first tire Saturday down on I-26 heading into Charleston. Thanks to Steel Outlawed and his wife for noticing it was going and getting me stopped before it blew out.

Texas - Once
South Carolina - 16 Times
Georgia - Three Times
Kentucky - Twice
Tenessee - Once
Virginia - Three Times
Florida - 14 Times

It's all good!

Thanks Baja, Myco & Ford! :D

I lost my first tire about 2 miles from the factory on a brand new 26 Outlaw trailer. I think kids must be putting something on the road, because I just lost a tire on my blazer with the same kind of (large) puncture.

I have six BRAND new tires on the ground, and three brand new spares!

We rolled to Destin Florida this weekend for the OSS Worlds and back without any issues with the trailer or the boat!

Put 120+ miles on the boat also.

Good trip.

:(

Re: 18,000 Miles & Counting

According to you local guys it was very low last year but I had a great time anyway. That is when I picked up my boat and was unable to get as much time on it as I would have liked. Hopefully we will be down next year and can spend more time on the water.
