A few details I learned about the "B36" Outlaw Race Boat.
It was built as a race boat from the factory for a then Baja dealer named Mike Hoffman. The boat was shipped without power. It did not have any cuddy or back seat. Originally it was raced with 700 HP motors and #3 drives with old style transmissions. It ran in the low 80's and interestingly enough it ran almost as fast on smooth water as rough water. The boat never did have a first place finish, but did have a second, third and a couple of fifth place finishes on the race circuit. |

I had one of 3- 1990 226es' with a factory installed HP465. It had a 1.36 Bravo on it & ran a best of 82 mph. I'll dig out the pictures. Also the guys who own the 40 Skater Sourcer (sp) in IA had one of the other 2- 226es' & it was an openbow. The other one last I knew was in the Austin area.

Options on this boat are the Mercury Racing HP575SCi engines, with inward-rotating Bravo One XR drives, Level Two Custom Shop Pak, 3D paint job (must see to appreciate), Team Baja package, Teague Custom Marine exhaust tips, Mercury 280 S K-planes, triple bolster rear bench, through hull exhaust with flappers, fresh water flush, transom shower, Lowrance depthfinder, electric navigation light, Sunbrella cockpit cover with Baja logos, Clarion/Bose stereo system, 6-disc CD changer, fire extinguisher system. Many other options/add-ons including shorepower, electric bolsters, monster gauges, Bimini top, etc. Standard belts and pulleys included. Bravo One 4-blade 30P lab-finished props included. Also included is a totally custom Dorsey tri-axle trailer; featuring an Ausco electric/hydraulic brake system, cut-out and illuminated Baja logos, custom painted to match the boat, etc. I'd like to have that boat! I know it is for sale, but divorces are expensive & I had to pay out about what that boat cost to my ex. :eek: |

wow doc thanks for the links of the 98 baja's. my first performance boat was a 1998 24se with a 454 mag mpi that i bought new. i can not believe that it has been almost 10 years, and 4 boats later. 2 baja's a fountain and a active thunder. funny thing the 24 was the only boat that i bought new and i sold it for more than i paid. that hasnt happened since. many fond memories, crossed lake michigan a couple of time's in that boat, been all over the north channel in it. great little boat.

Has it right now! 315 horse Yanmars. Couple of them out there i believe.

The cats look at lot like the ChrisCat. What years did Baja build the Cats, and how many different models? Dock Ive heard the stories, but I honestly forget the details. Have you heard any of the stories of BAJA building some boats for BANANA years ago? |

No, but I saw your 405 today when I was out cruising around. Took a buddy from work back in there to show him the nice "cabins" on the island! The lift is nice. You could sit out on the boat drinking a few root beers in the rain if you wanted! :drink: |
