engine hatch sag.

What can I do to fix the sag in the middle of my motor lid?

I don't have any advise for you but I think if that happens to my boat I'd tell my fat ass friends not to sit on it anymore.
Sorry--sometimes I can't help myself :evilb:

If it is a 29 outlaw they are made that way.

My 29 is the same I think it is to keep from sliding our oily a$$ off the back of the small sun pad. And it makes a good place to rest the beers!!

Are you running the hatch actuator too long on the down stroke?

When mine comes down level I let off the button. If you stay on the button it will pull the center lower then the sides?

Just a thought.

Re: engine hatch sag.

How olds the boat? I had to replace the wood that's inside the engine hatch on my old Baja after a few years. Water gets inside it and makes it VERY heavy and weak causing the sag. That and the bolts used to hold down the bolsters were my only complaints with my Baja :D

By the way, I was taught what Doc is talking about a long time ago. It saves the ram too. I still do it on my Cig. Just want to have the engine hatch come down and touch the seat, not drive it down hard.

Guys thanks for the help with this, but I know they are not all like this. Here is a picture form a 29 OL in the classifieds on this site and it is not sagging, now this is a picture form a 2002 and mine is a 1999, maybe they changed it from 1999 to 2002. I’m not sure?

I think Dock is on the $$ for your problem. I can make mine sag if I run the hatch actuator down too far.
THis is what it looks like normally. Sucky picture, but it is all I have right now.

Re: engine hatch sag.

After I read Docks post I went outside and tryed it, That's not it. My actuator dose not make it pull down, It stops when the lid hits the seat.???????

Your looking from the back in this pic. I thought mine was sagging too. Ive been to baja poker runs and EVERY single one was like this. so Ive probably seen 30-40 29 outlaws and all have this. show me a pic from the cockpit looking at the sunpad and it not having any sagging and ill eat my words.

Correct.

Due to where the hinge pivot point is,
if it( the hatch) were to follow the shape of the
area directly behind it, the hatch would bind against it,
and not be able to open.
