Motor Swap

If there was a couple of 575sci and a couple of XR drives for sale would it be worth the swap in a 36OL with 500HP's? I guess what i'm asking would it pick up alot more speed?

There are a couple for sale!

I like the 575 a lot and have had three friends with them in Fountains. Like the 500's they are great motors.

If you are doing it just for speed, I don't think you will be satisfied. My guess would be maybe 4 MPH in the 36 Outlaw.

Re: Motor Swap

Powerboat tested one w/575's a few years ago,
as I recall, 81-82 mph.

I think this was a Deco-Lite boat though.

They are a great motor, the blower whine is
awesum, but they do love there 91+ octance fuel,
once you start making them whine, the heat and humidity
does beat them down, probably not much more output
that 500 efi's.......but this time of year, they run great :D

Damn it takes alot to make these boats move, all boats. Yea the price for that swap might not be worth another 5mph. Doc I remember reading one of your posts of some tricks you did to your 500's I think that might be the same direction I want to go. I would guess you picked up a little speed. And the new accuator works great. Did you have to mount it directly to the lid? With the stock sleave that baja has it did not allow it to close all the way. I kept the sleave but re-drilled the hole so I do not have that eight inches of slack like that sleave offers. But it looks great. Thanks. :drink:

Pretty sure they had installed smaller pully's also. Would have to go dig up the back issues to make sure.

Good eye on that :D

That was a boat a couple of years before the one with 575's

That boat had 525SC's.... they did the pulleys on that one.

It takes a LOT to make a 36 Outlaw move. But she has room, rides GREAT and handles like a dream.

The boat that hit 80 to 81 was the cargo net cuddy as mentioned above. Plus they added chillers which are a MUST if you are going to get the max out of the 575's.

Put whipples on your engines, then see how long your drives will last!

What I did (heads, Cam & Computer))was good for 4 MPH.
