36 Outlaw 1997-1999 Hull Recall
Does anyone have pictures of a 1997-1999 36 Outlaw which shows the repairs for the Hull. I looked at a 1998 that is currently on the market and Baja has no record of this hull number being done. This boat also has a spider crack in the gelcoat on the hull below the RH engine. It looks to line up with the upper stringer which the engine is bolted to. Is this where the hull cracks would form?

Wilks,
I do not have pics but what they were doing on the recall was adding a vertical support on both sides in the engine compartment. If memory serves me correct it was toward the front of the engines. They also cut out the floor in the cabin and added a grid there then replaced the floor and carpet. I did research this as I got the notice but after checking I was lucky and was not effected. Know this is kind of vague but hope it helps. Mark |

That helps so I know what to look for. The spider crack in the hull has me concerned. I have never seen cracks in the hull gelcoat

Wilks,
Also look for cracks in the forward section of the hull in the area under the cabin. In and around the area straight down from about the front edge of the 2 hatches. Was told they were getting some cracks in that area thus adding the before mentioned "grid". Mark |

Wilks,
After thinking about the placement of the added vertical support in the engine compartment, I recall for their installation the engines had to be removed. So, with that being said the upgraded bracing would be farther back than I previously stated. I believe it to be approx even with the centerline of the exhaust manifold. The one I first referenced is farther forward and could be installed without removing the engines. Mark |
