Electical Problem
Wondered if anyone has had this (these) problems.
I own a '97 24'Outlaw, 454 Mag, MPI, 385hp, 308hrs currently. I bought the boat 05/06 with 274 hours. When I bought the boat, it had a couple of electrical problems. The trim gauge didn't work & the hatch actuator only worked part of the time. It would throw the circuit breaker. Took the boat in to get both problems corrected. When I got it back they said they could not find anything wrong with the actuator, and the trim gauge had a loose wire. Well, you know how this story goes, ... Hatch actuator still throws the breaker and will not lift the hatch. And the last time out, the trim gauge quit working again. Infact, last time out, trim motor would not even work. Had to use a Jump Box connected to the Trim Pump to raise the Outdrive. Previous owner said that there was a ground wire that ran under the back of the motor that had given him problems before. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Terry |
There are some connectors on black wires(ground) that run down behind the engine. One of mine came loose and caused the trim problem like yours. The hatch sounds like your actuator is fried and pulling too many amps.
