25 Outlaw w. 525Efi

So who is this "crazy" 25 OL owner letting a 288 Sunsation, with the same power, get a 1mph lead on him?

76 mph sounds about right. Just get a raised x box on there and then the Sunsation will be a tad behind.......

Actually, with all those steps, and the narrow beam of the 288, it ought to be way faster than the 25

jeff32 04-10-2007 10:29 PM

yeah, but it's still a 28...

Wild Card 09 04-11-2007 02:44 AM

Good point! And we all appreciate how important those extra feet can be. But, like the Nordic 28 Heat, the 28`8" Sunsation seams to be in exactly the same ballpark as the little 25 (26`8") when it comes to performance. Some get more out of the stepped hulls, but not everybody gets what they want.

I was surprised to see that the 288 was at mid 70´s with a good one running 79 mph on radar.

The 288 runs faster in chop just like the Baja. I thought that a stepped hull was less sensitive to sticky smooth water.

I´m not knocking Sunsation. I´m sure the narrow beam makes the Sunnys smoother in certain conditions. But it is that, and the steps that also make them a beast to be respected in situations where the Baja is a long way from its limits.

So who is the 25OL owner running a 525, mentioned in the Sunny thread?
I´m interested to get in touch with others who have blue motored 25´s or 26´s.

True, including the swim platform, guessing a little under 27 without it. The Sunsation weighs about 200 pounds less than a 25 Outlaw according to their website also. 4500lbs vs 4750lbs

Both are fun boats with a 525 though.

"yeah, but it's still a 28..."

Not really. Look at 25_hors_la_loi's avatar 2 posts back. See that drive encapsulated by the false sides and built-in swim platform? That "28" is a 25-26' boat in true length.

and whats wrong with my 24ol:D I am running over 80, well was until my drive and stuff got stolen:( I hope to be on the water by july again with the shortie2'' on there and try a bigger prop my 26 b1 was hitting 5900to 6000 at 83.2gps. now do you get any chine walk above 75 with your full hdy steering?? I had the add on but am going to full so I hope it stops, my arms were killing me after fighting the walk for 10 mins  :D

Wild Card 09 04-17-2007 05:55 PM

No nasty walks with the full hydraulic steering. If the water is smooth, it may start to rock from side to side. but a very slight correction on the wheel and thats gone in an instant. Full hydraulic is amazing.
Glad to see you are getting everything back together after the tough run you´ve had. Respect!

thats good to hear I never got the full set up hook up last fall steering that is just the add on. with a lot of love and help I will be getting some parts in in a few weeks, but before I put them on A I HAVE TO FIX THE BULKHEAD, B GET my nexted operation on the knee, C hook up the new alarm to the police:rolleyes: with a delay so I can kick some azz 1st:eek: . so I HOPE FOR JULY, AUG, the latest. Then I want to go out for a beating in some nice sea to air it out:p oh and will have full insurance on it when done,if I am not healthy I can put full home owners insurance on it, if its ready for the water and racing will put the boat insurance on it. I am putting my own barbwire mine field in with dog poop traps.I am going to make it to much of a pain to think about someone going over the fence again:mad: PS did I tell you my mom is from herzogenaurach west germany. her last name was ZINK she was related to the owners of PUMA, ADIDAS, I use to get a care package once in a while:p art

I ain´t heard of the place, but that doesn´t matter. Germany is a big place!
Germany is also supposed to be the place where thing don´t get stolen and people follow the rules, right. Well in 1996, my Sea Ray was stolen from my front drive, with two locks on it and a movement sensor on the house. It happened two hours before I returned from a weekend away!
It happens everywhere. But just don´t make it easy for them!
I read a story of a guy over here whose 24 outlaw was completely gutted by thieves ( at a workshop where it was supposed to get some servicing done). Motor, drive, gauges, tabs and seats. But the worst bit was that they wanted the the deck hatches out, too. so they just cut the deck out around the hatches and took the whole lot! The guy was devastated.
