Default Best Prop For A 24' Outlaw With A Stock Carburated 454 Magnum

I am just purchasing a used 1995 Baja 24' Outlaw. It has the 454 magnum carburated engine in it. The guy says top speed is 50 and possibly 55 with a half tank of gas and 1 person.

I know it is faster then that but the prop that is on it is a ballistic by michigan wheel and looks too small for the boat.

I haven't taken the boat out yet and have no idea what it spins for RPM's but know the prop is wrong. It is a magnum engine because I checked the intake and it is aluminum and original. The engine is totally stock with no modifications.

I am not looking for the absolute fastest speed I just want to put a good prop on the boat that runs decent and handles good.

Also would a three or 4 blade prop be better? I would think that this hull would handle better with more stern lift a 4 blade prop would provide.

These boats have been around forever so there must be some favorite props that people have run and been happy with.

Any suggestions for a good prop for a stock 454 magnum carburated engine and a Bravo 1 outdrive on a 24' Outlaw?

Thanks for the input.

I think the stock prop was a 23 pitch merc mirage on the mag motor .

My 24 with the same engine came with a 23 Mirage. It worked fine until I added headers and a carb. Maybe try a Mirage 23 plus or a 24 Bravo 1. I encourage you to try any prop you can get your hands on and keep detailed notes on each when testing. Good luck!!

A merc23 plus or a merc rev 4 23 ask bret at BBLADDES he's done a lot with that boat. speed should be 65 at 4800 to 5000. with either prop if its a 365 mag
