Steering ????
Can anyone tell me if the stock steering on a '94 24ft Outlaw will be sufficient enough for 600+ HP ???

To be honest I am not sure if it is full hydraulic.... Here's a pic...Not sure if it will help....

If so I would say yes, if not then no. You are re-doing your entire boat; do it right... |
It does have hydraulic lines that go into the rams....
|
Negative. IMO you need full hydraulic, external steering.

Any recommendations ? Cost will be a factor in my decision.
Thanks |
Latham Marine all the way. This is definitely not an area to skimp on quality for a price cut. If you're putting 600 hp in a 24 Outlaw, it will be a chinewalking death trap without hydraulic steering. IMHO

Thanks for the advice guys. I guess I will have to bite the bullet and go with Latham. Now if I could find a system that is not brand new but not worn out, that would be nice.:D
|
Next ? Single or dual ram full hydraulic? The prices are serious!!!!
|
Yeah, they're pretty proud of those systems.....but with good reason! My next question would be what kind of outdrive are you running? I'm guessing the boat had a typical Bravo 1 on it, but with 600 ponies, I hope you've beefed that up as well! Sounds like you're building a beast. I think the best set up for that would be an XR with dual rams. Of course, you could always do an Ace......

You could do Lathem, Mayfair,IMCO I think single would be plenty, check your local high per boat shop, ebay, and here for a possible used set up
