Lightnings

I've been considering headers for the 33 for some time, and finally bought a couple of sets this spring. Finally got them installed, and just couldn't resist putting up a few pics.
Biggest problems were making new mounts for the shifters, ecms, drive reservoirs, and oil filters. Had to go to a truck repair facility to get the right fittings, lines, etc. for the oil filters.
Whatchathink?

They look awesome. Did you notice any improvement power wise? are those stock motors?

pwam1 06-21-2007 10:18 AM

They are stock 502s.
I can't tell you about any power increases until after this week-end, since I haven't put the boat in the water yet.
but I CAN tell you this-they sound awesome. Taking the Y-pipes out of the loop sure made a difference.
I also notice that there seems to be quite a bit more water coming out of the tips than before with the switchable exhaust opened up.

Gotta ask how much were they?

Just can't belive how much headers cost for boats. There is nothing to them!

PM me your e-mail addy, and I will share details with you. I bought them from an OSO member, so don't wish to put that info in the forum. My e-mail addy is [email protected]
I Think they sound much better than the factory capt. call setup.
I must also add that there were a couple of design issues that I kindof shook my head over. Called Lightning to get a couple of questions answered, and was surprised at the customer service complacency.
Even asked them if they took the same bolts as the factory manifolds and was told "yes" rather abruptly, so I bought all new bolts, and when I went to install the headers, they bottomed out in the head. So I had to buy all new shorter bolts. There also is one hole on each port header that there is absolutely no way to get a bolt into. And if that was somehow accomplished, there is no way to tighten it. Either I am an idiot, (that's possible) or it is bad design.
But all things considered, to this point, I luv'em.

I know I had a set of CMI's and had them for around 3500 a set and wish I woulda kept them. They are now around 4000-4500 a set plus tails. Thats if you want to keep the Captains Call. Its insane what CMI gets for headers. I would think they'd be better to sell on quanity not dollar amount and then to only have 3 distributors nothing like keeping the price fixed.
