Prop Selection on new order
I am fairly new here and in performance boating. I am in the process of ordering a new 26OL w/ a 525. I am having a tuff time w/ prop selection....thought i would run it past you all. Thinking lab 3 blade 26 pitch for every day running (leaning to 3 blade to help keep the bow up for better top end) and a cheaper 4 blade 24 pitch for any real rough water.

Congrats on the new 26OL ..... it's sure to be a great ride :evilb:
Depending on the water conditions you run in, I would suggest a 24p Bravo/1 4-blade for your best overall ride. A labbed 26p would probably provide the greatest top end, but you'll be giving up cruising efficiency and throttle response with the thinner blades. |
Outlaws are sticky hulls. You'll probably need the 4th blade for more bow lift. I'd bet you could spin a regular 26 pitch B1 4 blade with that motor.
and if you couldn't get enough rpms with the 26 stock, you could lab it with a "baja cup" to gain a rpms plus free up the hull for more speed. Baja is a decent company and the OL is a good boat, but if you're into speed you may want to consider other brands. -Not trying to discourage you- (I own one myself) just want you to be happy with it at the end of the day. The 525 is a great motor, but the 26OL will only run about 74-75 with it. There are other boats that will run considerably faster with the same power. |
When you order it, get the "x" raised 3/4" to 1" above normal, too. I agree on the 26p Bravo 1 with it

thanks all for the replies.
with regards to another model.....being new to the sport and a strong desire for new (warrenty) baja is my brand when considering $$ (most boat for the money from what i have seen in the past 9 months of looking/lurking). to address throttle respones, out of the whole, and crusing efficency....that is why i was considering having 2 sets of props.....small chop, throw on the 3 blade....big chop and just crusine'n the 4 blade. with raising the "x" i was thinking 1/2 inch....is that too short....again admiting ignorance and being new...i am unsure of my ability to deal w/ the issues that come with extensive raised. again thanks for your responses.:D HR |
my boat is older I have played with it for 18yrs now I turn and get one hell of a pick up of speed at 2500 to 6000 with a 26 lab 4 blade its a 24ol, 4000lb, so a 26 stock first with a 1'' raise should put you at 74 to 77mph. Then you could go to BBLADES AND HAVE THEM LAB IT ART
