have kind of raised the bar. I rode in the last 40' poker run boat ( the one that got dropped) If Baja is going to use a 40 and be in the same ballpark as the last two 35's are in, it needs more than 850's. IMO three 700's are the only thing that will bring it to those levels. And by the way. What happened to the 40 they dropped. That was a bad mo fo. I heard the damage was going to be too expensive to justify repairing it for Baja. |

But with the 1075's you wont have the reliability. With triple 700's you can run all day long. Plus since Baja will be putting a good amount of hours on the boat I would think reliability would be key as well finishing every run they do.

I like the staggered 1075's idea! They are a pretty reliable package as far as I understand.

Staggered engines in a true deep vee work against you. You need weight back so you can lift the bow.
The carbon fiber 40 OL with the 850's should have ran 100+ MPH and they barely got 90 out of it. Those engines had a slight stagger. Granted the drives were to deep but I don't think a stagger setup will help any at all in a Baja. Personally I just appreciate Baja's desire to be seen and support the dealers and owners on the Poker Run circuit. With the water conditions very rough on a few of the events they do the 40 will be much better for sure and 80 MPH with a twin setup is okay for me. It is better then no boat at all! Plus they won't run off and leave me as easily! Just my 2 cents worth. |

That's why the last 40 didn't have 1075's |

I bet you both were driving your boats to the max in that situation. I would be.. If the competition was that close. ....Which it seemed. A 40OL will be great! Any engine setup like Dock mentioned would be sweet to keep it in the mid-upper 80's.(Trip 700's or twin 850's) I do think others will compare Baja to that league of boat. 38 Donzi. 38/42 Fountain,39 Nortech, etc...... A 39 Nortech is a monster boat and twin 700's its running right at or close to 100. I think others have been impressed with Poker face and Lucky 7's and it peformance. I am not asking Baja to get the same results but somtihng fairly in line. Say 90... With some hull update etc.....Just my opinion:D |

What do you think it'd run with trip 700s? |

Ahhhh, gotcha....Figured with factory support it wouldnt be to big of an issue. But the bottom line is always an issue in the corperate world.
What do you think it'd run with trip 700s? The day I rode in the 40 w/850's, the max speed logged on the smartcraft monitor was 89, the best we got out of it on our ride was 85 |
