Progress report for 26 Outlaw

What are the reviews from owners?

haulinvols 10-18-2007 06:40 AM

I don't know that there are many 26 owners on OSO. The word from owners on other sites like TBM is that they love the boat and are very happy.

How do you like your 25? What power and speeds?

Wild Card 09 10-18-2007 04:13 PM

A buddy of mine has a 26 with a Whippled 496 (600hp) and he is very happy with it. He has run it offshore and on the river, here. Maybe 60 hours, so far.

The hull "sounds" totally different to the 25. Very rigid and strong but just makes a different sort of sound to the older boat as it cuts through waves. Heīs going to keep it for quite a while, and may put even more power in it. It isnīt faster than the 25, but it may well be able to handle more power.
I liked the way it runs , and the cockpit is more generous than the 25. Solid build, lots of practical features.
No more glued in carpets in the cabin, like the 25. That alone is a big step forward in making a boat stay fresh, for many years!

We love out 25. It has been everything we were looking for.

We have the 496HO. The best I have seen on GPS was 66.2mph with the stock 23p mirage plus prop and I was bouncing off the rev limiter. I like the boat better with the 24p bravo four blade and the best I have seen with that is 65.1mph on GPS. I have not done one of those "barely have enough fuel in the tank take everything out of the boat" runs with it. These speeds were basically every day stuff.

The boat with the four blade prop rides better and handles much better. I am down about 150-200rpm though so I will have it labbed over the winter to try and get some of that back. The mid range speed and time to plane are also much better with the four blade. It just seems to be a better overall prop choice.

Plus, it just looks great, if I do say so myself. :D

Thanks for the info. Funny you say the 25 is faster. I thought all of the advertizing had the 26' 1-2 mph faster than the 25. I guess that is the difference between "marketing" and "true" #'s

Wild card the 26 does not have a box right/ SO WHAT IS HE GETTING WITH 600HP 75 76. OH HAVE YOU HEARD FROM LAXBAJA IF HE GOT A BOX IOR NOT???

Wild Card 09 10-19-2007 01:25 PM

Actually, i said the 26 isnīt faster than the 25.
We all hoped that the new boat would show a performance advantage in top speed.
The blown 496 boat was still slower than my boat, when we ran back to back. That is the advantage of the box against the extra hp. There is maybe 2mph difference. Put a box and maybe a shorty on a 600hp 26, and then you will see some speed!

Airtime, it still wasnīt clear to me whether Laxbaja had fitted a box or not!

No, Iīm not weakening for a 26 yet. Still not finished with my 25, and as it showing absolutely no signs of giving up on me, we will probably hang together a while longer......
The 25 is a great boat with almost classic qualities. There have been so many cool looking graphic variations on the 25 since 1998, and Haulinvols Anniversary edition is certainly one of the coolest, Iīve seen.

BrettM 10-19-2007 02:01 PM

We are currently working with our third customers from the 25 to the 26. We have seen same speeds with the 26 as the 25 and a little better ride at LOTO. The hull as mentioned is a little louder. I think the main selling point for us is the large cockpit of the 26. Both are awsome boats!

Thanks man. :ernaehrung004:

The 26 is pretty cool. It's a good boat. I look at it as basically the same as the 25. it just happens that when I was shopping for a new boat the 26 had replaced the 25. I've driven the 25 as well, though and I do like that extra space in the cockpit. The other tweaks are cool as well HD motor moounts etc, but basically the same boat IMO. I had searched my arse off for a used 25 with a 525 and saw a picture of one orange and purple graphics?, but absolutely nothing for sale with blue power.

I may go with WildCards upgrades sometime but haven't decided yet.
He has a kick-butt boat that proably runs better than any 25 out there.
I'd love to see the same or similar gains. I've seen 79.5-80 on gps as it sits now, and 77-78 any day with 4 big guys and plenty of fuel.
I've only tried 3 real props so far, so there might be some more to go with that.

SOX, if your considering the 26, I wouldn't let a sweet deal on a 25 pass by. They are almost identical and it seems like there are some good deals to be had on them.

I bought mine this month and I have been out a few times and I like it a bunch. New boat for me and the ride is very smooth with a little bit of bounce in some 2-3 footers. Overall performance is great so far. Speed is decent with five people the other day at 62 GPS and with just 2 of us it was 66. Not bad for 496ho I suppose. The room is nice.

Congrats , Bryan, on your new boat. Post a pic!

Thanks and I'll be upgrading to post a pic.
