95 Baja 272 Opinions?

I'm thinking about buying a 95 272 Baja. Fair price in reasonably nice condition? Freshwater only. Gelcoat seems to be a little faded but 2 year old interior.Haven't seen the boat in person Want opinions before I travel nearly a thousand miles! Are there any specific issues or problems I should look for? Going to drop a 600+ procharged 454 in it if I buy it. What should I expect preformance wise...top speeds, etc. Thanks

Do you already have the 454SC?

If so, buy the cheapest 272 with a decent hull and interior.

Great boat, I love mine, my dad told you its for sale, might be moving up, see below.

If you do not have the SC engine, a built up 502 would be a REALLY nice motor for this boat :D

Anyway, 65mph WOT, crushes through 2-3 wind waves and can handle up to 6 foot swells in big intervals at speed. Slices like a knife through butter with its 24 degree deadrise.

Email me off the ad or PM stillhaulin@63 if interested...

Yes, I already have the motor in a 22 ft Pachanga! This boat has a 330/454 in it with 300 hours. Figured I would just swap motors. LOL! Your boat is 2500 miles away! Anywho the boat looks pretty good, says it'll survey fine,etc.,etc. Just wondering if there are any specific things to look for.

drove one with a 454 mag and ran 59... I was surprised how fast it would plane with only this small engine in a 272. Nice ride!

We had a 1993 272 with a 502 and it was a very nice running boat. Would hit low 60s without issue and did a nice job in 2-3' waves.

I have no idea as to how they held up over the years, but our had no stress cracks after 4 years of use.

My first boat 3 yrs ago was a 95 272 with a 310 454 carbed engine. Best I got was 57mph.
Here are some pics when I owned her.

I have a 98 272,it now has 454 stroke to 490w/ a procharger. Its little rough on the top in, but over all I love it.Especially with the way gas prices are going. With the stock 454w/charger ran low 70's.now running high 70's with the best of 82.I think you'll be happy the route your going.

I had a '00 272 with 502 mag. Would run 68 with Mirage and 67 with a Bravo which performed better all around. I ran that boat hard on the lower Chesapeake Bay/Atlantic. That was right when we formed the HRPA and started going on long excursions. It held up well, but got quickly traded for something better suited to those waters.

I would recommend an Outlaw because I think that hull can handle that kind of power better than the 272.

I'm curious. What is the difference hullwise between a 272 and an outlaw?

Thanks for the replies!

I think the 25 Outlaw is the same lower hull. The swim platform is just integrated on the 272.
Here's my '97 Boss 272 with the optional windscreen. I ran 86 gps all summer with a M3SC procharger on a 509. Going through it as we speak because of Felpro head gaskets.
