30ft Baja X Dimension?
Have seen a few boats that say raised X dimension on the 2004 30ft Baja Outlaw? I presume it would be a little faster but from someone that owns this type of boat, what are the negatives? Would or could handling or blowout be a problem?

Contact "Twice as Naughty" on PowerboatParty. com. He has a 30' Outlaw with a raised X. He should have the info you need.

This was a recent topic on TBM....here are some posts;
Mine, The "blow-out" isn't all that bad for me....the trick is that you don't need to hammer the throttles to get on plane...the 30 (with HO's) pops up easily with 1/2 to 2/3rds throttle applied. -------------------------------------------------------------------- another 30 owner, I agree, mine pops up with no problems. With stock 28's, it does blow-out at about 2000-2500 rpms and quickly rises to 3200-3500 rpms but it bites at this rpm range and you slowly back out of it to cruise speed. I don't have to feather it or anything like that. To me it's really not even noticeable unless you watch the tach. I have driven a 342 with stock 26's that had really bad blow-out and sounded alot like what Curt described. Prop selection will definitely have an effect on the blow-out. I have another set of not-so dialed in labbed 30's that have really bad blow-out compared to my stock 28's. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Baja will raise the X upon request when the boat is ordered...so, other model years can also have it. __________________ |
