ext hydraulic steering ?

i have 1988 240 the boat ran 70mph no chine steer good now i am puting 540 600 hp. my ? is imco n hardin wish is better n can i just use single steering

Everything depends on the boat and how fast it is going to be. You said you are going to be putting 540 600hp engine in the boat but what is your expected speed? If it is with in the budget I would consider full hydraulic for your boat. It will cost much less to do it all at once then buy external steering now and an add on kit down the road. As far as single or dual rams go, dual is always going to be better. Ask your self is it easier to hold something with two hands or one. But this all comes down to how fast you want your boat to go. I did full twin ram Imco on my 27 Islander before I put the new motor in. It is a night and day difference. I would rather be on the safer side then to end up on the wrong side. Invest the money in a full system with twin rams and you wont be sorry.
