Speed Rated Bimini

Did a search on here, but came up empty, lookn to put a bimini on the 33OL, made some calls and the highest speed I found w/ SS hardware is 55, is this an item that needs to be custom made by a local shop, or anyone have a link to a place that has a higher speed rating ? Have seen bimini's on go fasters, so I know it can be done.
Thanks for any info

I have a bimini on our outlaw. It was custom made however I was told " It is not for high speed, don't leave it up if your going to run ballz out, it ain't made for that". I said ok. Guy has 30 yrs. in the business. I have poles on the front of the top not straps and a strap in the back for stability. About 50-55 is about all I'll try. Sorry I know that don't help--just another opinion.

They can be done because Fountain does it. However all the Fountains I have seen with them have windshields and that help with the air flow.

We rode with a friend in Destin on a 103 degree day in a 35 Fountain and it made me want one.

I think the Fountain ones are limited to 65 or 70 MPH if memory serves me right.

They just need to be VERY secure so you don't get the umbrella effect and they pull the poles out and take gelcoat with them.

Received a PM today from Excursion - he had one on his AT and now having one made for the BT, there is a place down in Hopewell, VA that custom makes them for him, so they will be hearing from me tomorrow, J - said his never moved no matter how fast he had the AT moving. I will keep ya posted.

Had one on my 342 and ran with it wide open which was about 70 or so. It hooked to my winshield, though, so that may have helped with airflow as Dock noted.

I think there is a law against biminis on "speed" boats. Well there should be anyway.

i have one on my AT as well, done by the people who use to make them for powerquest. rated at 60mph with full camper top up. this is my third top all custom made on different boats, all are where nice but as doc says i believe the weak link on all of them is the gel cote. smooth hot day and i will run with it up, ounce it starts to get rough though down they come. by experiance i have ripped or broken screws on two of the three.
