I agree 100% Sherry has been great help finding parts and getting warranty issues taken care of. I hope everyone at the factory lands on their feet!

I've had two friends to have their early year model 30 OL's completely repaced and they have told me of several others they saw at the factory.

The first two year models were effected before the problem showed up and Baja could correct it.

I have to hand it to Baja / Brunswick in that they did replace the hulls 100% and the customers were very happy.

There have been several 30's, I have heard of the 23 having a problem and pretty much every 405 is having to be replaced which is what put Baja under. (Thanks Bill Regen)

The new redesign of the 405 which will be a 415 if Reggie builds it has all the problems resolved as they have gone back to a stringer construction.

Just so I understand as a 30OL is very appealing right now - the '04 and '05 are the ones to keep an eye on and the '06 on out have had the design flaw fixed?

I know that Sonic builds or used to build a 3 piece system(hull,deck, liner) but still used stringers and I think the bulkheads were built in to the liner. Did the Bajas not have any stringers or do you think that the integrity was lost with no bulkheads? Also, were the 35's redesigned before they wre put on the market? Is the 335 built like the 405 or the 415? Just asking not trying to stir the pot. When I bought my 36 I was torn between new tecnology and old as the 35 was just out. After reading this, I am glad I went old school.
I would be pissed if I just bought one of these or was a dealer trying to sell them.

We haven't had any trouble with our 06 30' as of yet. Have about 75 hours on it. Have not gone to LOTO to get beat up yet either :D

Yes that is what I understand.

Keep in mind that many of the first ones have NOT developed any problems.

If they do they usually start to stress and crack in the inner liner near the stairs of the cuddy and the cracks will continue to grow and come up into the cockpit and up the side of the boat.

yes there were problems with the liners in most of the larger boats. But I must say that most of the time it was nothing more then a cosmetic issue. As for the 405s thats a different story. Many people at the plant from line personel, to quality department, to management fought the 405 constantly. It was evident from the beginning that there were problems with that boat. And out voices went unheard. Primarly from Bill Regan but also from the engineering deparment also. The 415 is a modified 405 minus the liner system. Some people finally got smart and decided that for a boat of that size, maybe we should try stringers. We stopped working on it a couple weeks ago, when it was made known Reggie would not be taking the 405.

Bill made ALL the decisions, not engineering.

You have nothing to worry about with the 06. I understand the problem was resolved by that year model.

However most of the early models that had issues did come off of LOTO! If should be required that all boat builders must validate their hulls at LOTO on weekends only!

Bill may of had the final say, but I do know for a fact that enginnering was called in on many of the decisions. I was there I heard the conversations. Yes Bill was in the wrong for pushing boats out we knew could have problems, but there was more to it then that.
